NEED A LITTLE HELP HERE!

The Handmaiden is having some trouble. Does anyone reading this blog have any experience with these symptoms? I'd appreciate any knowledge you might have.

Michael

Dizzy spells--symptoms are either a strong vertigo (where the room spins and I feel like I might fall) or mild (where it seems like the room is moving). I don't feel faint or like I might pass out. Just the vertigo. From former experience with this, I think either I need to have my neck adjusted by a chiropractor or maybe it is an inner ear thing. It's unpleasant and I can only function at half speed.

I can sympathize! I had a particularly nasty bout of viral labyrinthitis back in 1995. Lay flat on my back for 48 hours, couldn't move my head, just made me heave, and the room spin violently. It took about half a year to stop feeling any dizziness, which was only slight, and only when I changed position from upright to lying. Once settled it was ok. Came back about 5 years later for a couple more bouts when I was going through a very stressful time. I think it may be like a shingle virus, which can come back when you are really low. Was not quite so bad the last time. Doctor said it could also be something like floaters in the fluid of the labyrinth, and they could get lodged and make you giddy. Said to try to shake my head to dislodge them, if it happens again. He also said, that a cold virus can sometimes affect the inner ear rather than the nose/throat, causing the dizziness, probably what caused my first one. There could be a number of things that can cause the dizziness. Most important, you may want to see a doctor just to eliminate anything neurological. When I had the first bout, my doctor did some reflex tests to eliminate any neurological cause.
The last bout I had also made me feel very weak. After about a week of dragging myself about, I finally made myself a couple glasses of fresh vegetable and fruit juice - carrot, beet, orange, lemon, and most important, ginger. Ginger is a great anti-nausea remedy, but the vitamin, mineral and energy cocktail literally cured me on the spot, no exaggeration. And never had another bout since. Last time was more nausea than dizziness though. Still worth trying.

Speedy recovery!

Sounds a lot like an inner ear infection to me. Had them before and done the same thing. Good luck and hope you feel better.
