SATURDY AFTERNOON, MESSING AROUND

DREAMS

There is a lot in the news and even more in the wind. I am astonished at the dreams people are having. People who are not given to flights of fancy and superfluity. They are telling me in exact detail of dreams they have and the majority of them are of a time of trouble or major change. A couple of them have made the hair on my neck stand up. I would tell you more but I will not tell who has told me what. I have to keep some things private. But the overall consensus is that things are going to be bad. Get ready. If you get any dreams you would like to talk about, I would be happy to hear from you.

HOME SCHOOLING

One of the big things in the news is the California Court of Appeals ruling AGAINST home schooling. If you want to hear the state telling the people to stick it where the sun don't shine, here is an excerpt from the decision:

"In obedience to the constitutional mandate to bring about a general diffusion of knowledge and intelligence, the Legislature, over the years, enacted a series of laws. A primary purpose of the educational system is to train school children in good citizenship, patriotism and loyalty to the state and the nation as a means of protecting the public welfare."

I am assuming you picked up on that part about loyalty to the state.

Let me tell you about schools, and I learned this 50 years ago. Public schools are were created to further the transfer of middle class values to the students. We got the system from the German State of Prussia. In essence, what schools really do is teach what that court decision says, loyalty to the state. And I reckon if that is what you want for your child to learn then you may as well go for it. If you want your child to learn knowledge and wisdom and clear thinking then you had better school them at home. My children went to school here where I live for the first years of their lives. They are pretty sharp cookies. I am proud of them.

PREPARATIONS

I have said this before but it needs said again. Prepare while you can. These are the good days. It is not time to prepare for looters when a gang of them are outside your home blazing away with whatever type of arsenal they have. It's mostly too late at that point! If you are not ready at that point then you may as well be prepared to run like hell. But to be a successful runner you have to be prepared, you have to train. Preparedness is a big part of staying alive.

And just buying stuff will not be enough, for the most part. So go ahead and buy a bunch of guns and ammo and store them away. Will you be able to hit the broad side of a barn when the time comes to really shoot to save your ass and the lives of those you love? Hell. There are people who can't hit the broad side of a barn if they were IN the damn barn! So go shoot your guns a little bit. I ain't saying you have to become a world class shot, though it wouldn't hurt a bit. I am saying that you should be familiar with your weapons and know how to hit what you are aiming at. My advice in case approach by a marauding band is to shoot first and make it count. You are not a trained soldier and damn few of us are. But those guys telling you to get a decent battery of guns know what the hell they are talking about. And I am as neglectful as any of you and I have not taken my wife shooting and I am to blame for that. I will try to remedy that when the weather gets better and that might be this coming week, maybe around Wednesday or Thursday.

But we really do need to get ready. We need to be prepared. If you aren't ready or you don't have someone to fight for you, then it's time for the Purple Kool-aid. And we are not suicidal! We are out to survive whatever they throw at us! We intend to exist and go forward in the new day that is being created!

Get ready and stay alive.

GRINDING AWAY AT OUR RIGHTS

[I got this off of The Bulletin out of Philadelphia, PA. It points out why our constitution is a failed document. There is no way the constitution gives the fedgov the right to regulate firearms. It isn't there. But they do it anyway and the people eat it, so that is that. It isn't the only sin against the constitution, for sure, but it is the one that is so blatantly violated. Stay alive.]

Sure-Fire Argument On The Second Amendment Arrives
By: Rick Lynch , For The Bulletin

With the Supreme Court's decision to examine the constitutionality of D.C.'s gun ban, the nation once again turns to an intense examination of the wording of the Second Amendment. One way to understand an amendment whose words have confused generations is to study its somewhat confusing text.

But another way is to examine at whose request the amendment was written.

For example, if 200 years from now constitutional scholars are trying to determine whether the Smith Tax Act of 2008 increased or decreased the taxes Social Security recipients paid on their retirement income, knowing that the act came into being as the result of pressure from AARP would pretty much end that debate. This, then, is a vital question when seeking to understand the Second Amendment.

For if you know the context in which the amendment was written, if you know for whom it was written, if you know who was clamoring for it and what were their concerns, then that can help settle any argument of individual rights versus collective rights.

The Bill of Rights was written by Congressman James Madison to fulfill a promise made to the Anti-Federalists after pressure from that group had cost him a Senate seat - pressure brought to bear because of his opposition to amending the Constitution with a bill of rights. The Bill of Rights, then, as any history book will confirm, came into being to satisfy the single most suspicious, vociferous and relentless foes of the new federal government. That is the all-important context in which the Bill of Rights was created.

The Anti-Federalists, men filled to varying degrees with fear, mistrust and loathing of the new federal government, insisted on a bill of rights as additional shackles imposed on that new government. Knowing that alone, knowing that the famous Bill came into existence only to please those most apprehensive of the new government definitively ends any confusion or debate surrounding the meaning of the Second Amendment.

There is simply no way on earth the Anti-Federalists would have surrendered to the new and mistrusted government the right to own any gun they wanted at any time they wanted in any number they wanted. To believe differently, to believe that the Second Amendment actually gives the federal government the authority to regulate firearms, one must believe the absolutely unbelievable.

One must believe that the Anti-Federalists, fearing and loathing federal power, compelled Madison to compose this laundry list of rights, this list of things over which the government was to have no authority and, very near the very top of the list, these people in fear of the federal government desired a clause that reads, "Despite the fact that Article I, Section 8 does not empower you federal government people to infringe our firearms rights, we hereby correct that mistake and surrender to you a right that we previously held but wish now to give away. "We must further believe that James Madison was such a monumentally incompetent and abysmal writer that, when trying to give the federal government this new authority to regulate the private ownership of firearms, the last fourteen words of the Amendment read, "The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

We must also believe that revolutionary American history conceals some hitherto unknown and utterly undocumented groundswell of public desire for gun control. Picture in your mind for a moment the rough-and-tumble individualist who gave birth to this nation, a man who had tamed a wilderness, fought Indian wars on and off for 180 years and successfully faced down the world's mightiest empire. Hold a picture of that man in your head for a moment and then try to imagine his being told that this new federal government would have the power to regulate his ownership of firearms in any manner it saw fit, including imprisoning him for possession of any firearm for any reason at any time.

No honest or serious person could ever claim to believe that any part of the American electorate in the 1700s desired federal gun control, let alone the Anti-Federalists who forced the creation of the Bill of Rights.

THEY'RE GONNA GETCHA!

[I got this nasty little buggger off of WIRED. I went through What Really Happened to get there.]

A U.S. government office in Quantico, Virginia, has direct, high-speed access to a major wireless carrier's systems, exposing customers' voice calls, data packets and physical movements to uncontrolled surveillance, according to a computer security consultant who says he worked for the carrier in late 2003.

"What I thought was alarming is how this carrier ended up essentially allowing a third party outside their organization to have unfettered access to their environment," Babak Pasdar, now CEO of New York-based Bat Blue told THREAT LEVEL. "I wanted to put some access controls around it; they vehemently denied it. And when I wanted to put some logging around it, they denied that."

Pasdar won't name the wireless carrier in question, but his claims are nearly identical to unsourced allegations made in a federal lawsuit filed in 2006 against four phone companies and the U.S. government for alleged privacy violations. That suit names Verizon Wireless as the culprit.

Pasdar has executed a seven-page affidavit for the nonprofit Government Accountability Project in Washington, which on Tuesday began circulating the document (.pdf), along with talking points (.doc), to congressional staffers hashing out a Republican proposal to grant retroactive legal immunity to phone companies who cooperated in the warrantless wiretapping of Americans.

According to his affidavit, Pasdar tumbled to the surveillance superhighway in September 2003, when he led a "Rapid Deployment" team hired to revamp security on the carrier's internal network. He noticed that the carrier's officials got squirrelly when he asked about a mysterious "Quantico Circuit" -- a 45 megabit/second DS-3 line linking its most sensitive network to an unnamed third party.

Quantico, Virginia, is home to a Marine base. But perhaps more relevantly, it's also the center of the FBI's electronic surveillance operations.

"The circuit was tied to the organization's core network," Pasdar writes in his affidavit. "It had access to the billing system, text messaging, fraud detection, web site, and pretty much all the systems in the data center without apparent restrictions."

The 2006 lawsuit (.pdf), which is suspended pending an appeals court ruling, describes a similar arrangement, naming Verizon.

AMMO PRICES!!! AND DELIVERANCE

My Handmaiden just got back from town. She had some business and she picked me up a box of 100, 2 & 3/4" #8 shotgun shells. I've bought them many times over the years at Walmart and they have been $15 a box. I wanted them because I don't think that everything I shoot will require 00 Buck and 00 Buck is expensive. I have a couple boxes stored away and this last 100 should keep me in good standing with the world for a good long time.

But this time the cost for the box was $21. $21! That is a 40% hike in price from not too many years ago. Maybe 3 years ago. Hells Bells! At an inflationary rate like this we won't be able to afford "blow-up" ammo. The rotten bastards are taking all the fun out of life.

I intend to persevere and keep up my survival approach to life. But it looks like the average Joe will be paying out the ass just to live. Somehow, the poor people always end up paying for the mistakes of the rich. I least I think they made mistakes. Surely they haven't concocted this economy on purpose! We don't have any say in the policies that create financial hard times but we sure have to go through them. BOHICA, you poor guys. I may be poor but I live on a lot of land and I can grow a garden. I will fight the good fight and I will go down with my guns blazing.

I wonder how much money the rich guys will want before they let us out of this trap? They sort of screwed up this time and gave us the late December lowdown on how big the bonuses were on wall street this year and I can still remember them. They should have waited at least until Summer to let the economy collapse. Then we would have forgotten how much the minions of the elite had garnered for themselves and their masters at the end-of-the-year reporting.

My wife, known as the Handmaiden, wrote an essay years ago called Squeeze, Baby, Squeeze. It was in regard to the system putting the people in such binds as not allowing themselves to defend their own lives, and other sins. Her rant was encouraging the government to keep on doing what they were doing. She wanted the squeeze, the pressure on their heads, to continue until people started to bleed from around their eyes. Her analysis was that people would sit on their dead asses and let the system beat them down until they bled. And maybe she is right.

On a different road to the same place, we Brethren arrived at the conclusion that the system would not be happy until we had all been reduced to Mexican peons. Squeezed 'til you bleed or reduced to menial servitude. What the hell is the difference?

I am getting the feeling of people banding together to survive the coming years. The individual isn't going to be able to make it. And people will give up a lot to see that their kids are fed and healthy. How does that scripture go? Let no man count anything he owns his own. I think that is it. That is part of the scriptural reference for communal living. And communal living sure does lighten the burden of defense. Many eyes and many trigger fingers make usurpers extremely wary. And the gardens get big and varied. The personalities you encounter are part of a vast rainbow of humanity. We call it the Spectrum of Humanity. All the way from horrible drunks to enlightened saints. What a picture it is and what a lesson in human nature it serves up.

But everybody works and goes to their appointed position. The Old Man used to say that no dog could avoid the collective hunt. Hah! And the Emotional Policeman controls all of that. You don't need cops and snitches and undercover agents and all that stuff. When the people get the understanding of how the communal economics work THEY make sure everyone is at their post. You get a high production sawmill running and you need every body you can muster to keep the boards flowing to their proper bundle. You pull a guy out of the order of production and someone will have to work two jobs and that is not going to happen for very long. There is generally an extra guy around for filling in for sick people, but a lazy ass ain't gonna make it in communal living. We all used to say that the Spectrun reveals all secrets. That might be a little heavy for right now, but it is a beautiful thing.

I will get on the subject of communal living in the days ahead, God willing. It can help you stay alive and feed yourelf and your family. This can be a huge benefit in case the world goes into a depression. I did it myself for 30 years and I don't regret it for an instant.

You do what you have to do to stay alive!

THINGS TO TALK ABOUT

I AM NOT SUPPORTING RON PAUL

I have decided that I will no longer support Ron Paul for President. It is a lost cause and there is no sense in riding a dead horse. He had plenty of money and a terrific grassroots support. He went to all the debates and handled himself fairly well. I believe him to be an honorable man. But I will no longer back his candidacy. The people have spoken and they don't want Ron Paul in the Whitehouse.

Ron Paul is a Constitutionalist without peer. I think he reads it every day. But I think the constitution is a failed document and it looks like the voters of this country have little support for it either.

The clear and resounding rejection of the constitution is a good reason to examine your position as a survivalist. Why put any hope in a document that has become meaningless and whose support has become meaningless? Why become a paperist? If the idiot voters of this country reject the constitution why in hell would I back it? It all depends on the voters and they have spoken and so be it. And I told you that I am really a Monarchist. I am a man who believes in those words "Thy kingdom come" and I think that will be the route to follow.

I have friends who suported Ron Paul. Men of high character and determination. And three of them are from the Deep South. One of them we refer to as The Hermit. He just does not socialize with much of anybody. He stays home and minds his own business. But he drug his ass all over Tennessee and Alabama campaigning for Ron Paul. The Hermit even had a belly laugh over the fact that if anyone had told him a year earlier he would be out campaigning for a politician he would have called them a liar! But his heart was right and he did what he thought was best and he lost. I say that is the lesson to be learned. The unthinking public does not want a constitutional president. They can live with Da Shrub. So be it.

I DO NOT BELIEVE IN GLOBAL WARMING

I was reading this morning about Prince Charles of England, heir to the throne, making a big noise about global warming. What a jerk. It has been deemed false by people who are actually qualified to comment on the subject that sunspot activity is the main culprit in the warming or cooling of the planet. We have just gone through a cycle of lots of powerful sunspots and now we are entering a period of very little sunspots. Very little sunspots will mean colder weather. I have a friend who lives waaayy down in lower Mississippi and the cold is giving him fits with his garden. He will make it okay because he is smart, but it is still an irritant to him.

What has happened is that money, REAL MONEY, has reared its ugly head. There have always been planet worshippers. But they were always correctly considered to be a might touched in the head. But Al Gore has come along and won an Oscar and a Nobel Prize and made TONS of money from global warming. First thing to notice is that Oscars and Nobel Prizes can be superfluous. The proof of this statement is overwhelming. Al Gore is getting rich as hell from his little campaign to fight rising temperatures and that is why he is doing this. Plain and simple.

I would like to point out to you, the people thinking about survival, that the pollution and mayhem coming our way when the SHTF and especially when TEOTWAWKI comes along, will stagger the imagination. Hell hath no fury like the pollution we will be getting when the Big Bang comes along. It will be ugly and unimaginable. I had a vision in a big city back in the early 80's of the situation when the bombs go off. I had ridden up to Indianapolis with a friend while he was running an errand. Just one of those quick hitter, in and out sort of deals. My friend had to go ask for directions and I was sitting in the car and wondering about the Big Bang and I just said "Let me see it." And there is was! I couldn't believe it. First thing I couldn't believe is that God would show me such a thing. Who the hell am I to rate the granting of such a request? Didn't seem quite right, but I ain't the boss so that is that.

But Indy was in a world of trouble. The cloud layer was maybe two or three hundred feet above me and it was as thick as a mountain. I could see a big column of really black smoke going up to the cloud layer and then disappearing into the dark grayness of the sky. I saw no people and no vehicles. There was some litter on the streets but not enough to really matter. The air down where we breath had vapors of yellow and purple intermingled within it. Really disgusting. I don't know if a person cold have lived in that atmosphere or not, but it sure didn't promising. Not one bit. Shortly thereafter I made inquirey with two men I knew to be prophets and they had both had simiiar visions.

And on the basis of this I say that Al Gore and his global warming campaign is false. It is a scare tactic and a money machine for anyone who can get in the limelight of it. As to pollution, well, we ain't seen nothin' yet.

Be especially cautious of people who are adamently anti-pollutioon. The chariot of the New World Order will be pulled by horses named Peace and Environment. Nasty business. The truth of the matter is that the governments of this world will not have peace but rather war and their pollution from these wars is unfathomable. Liars every one!

But be smart and stay alive!

THINGS NEEDING SAID

I haven't got much to say this morning. I've surfed around and read my daily ration of survival blogs. I must say that my cogitation after my reading has me pretty proud of my fellow survivalists. These men and a few ladies are trying their damnedest to save a few lives. The lives of people they don't even know. People they have never met. Sounds like high ideals to me!

What do you want to know? You want statistics? You want rationalization? Do you want justification? Well, these men on the survival blogs have it all. I am not saying they bring the word of God, but I am saying they are exercising something of the divine nature in bringing the word to you of the coming calamities. The scripture says that "Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." And the bloggers are laying down their lives, taking minutes and hours from their allotted time on this earth, to tell people that it isn't working and that they had better prepare for the worst.

Jim Dakin is roaring like a proverbial Thunder and so is Jim Rawles. The Dragon is shooting from the hip out in Pennsylvania. The Bear Ridge Project is making a big noise out in Colorado. The survivalist blog is making a great deal of sense. The Urban survivalist has shown signs of life and very astute reasoning. Joe over at Viking Preparedness is giving it hell. Strong men! And there are others. Even Kurt Saxon is still writing and preaching. And if someone has an extra copy of the Poor Man's James Bond I would sure appreciate getting my hands on it. Lotsa goodies in that book.

We have missed the boat on our timing before and it has not hurt us. We still hang in there. But H-hour is gettting closer by the day. Oppression hangs in the air like a thick cloud of smoke. And God has not spoken of this coming calamity recently.

But I will not quit and I don't think God expects me to quit. I am not made that way. I am awaiting the time to plant our garden, to grow healthy food and store it in good glass jars with tight seals. I have told the Handmaiden to buy me another $100 of .308 and that will probably do me for a while, unless God speaks.

But the main thrust of the post is to get people to concentrate on their personal survival. And if your personal survival includes another 150 people, well, so much the better.

The weather is a bit cool here but nothing we can't stand. We still have the 12 ducks on the pond that we always had, at least for the last year. 7 Mallards and 5 China Whites. Some Canadian Geese are flying in for short visits. We have had a lot of rain, 3" a week or more, for the past two weeks. But it is still Winter and we know to stay ready for just about anything. My lady friend Charli Gribble has her Peas in and now her weather report is saying snow and cold and this is in Alabama! She is wondering where global warming is when we need it. But we will make it, with the help of the Almighty. Just waiting to plant the garden!

Stay alive!

THINKING ABOUT PREPS

I am on the subject of what to store for the future. As this thing moves along, this hellbent-for-leather suicide plunge of the world's people, some things become more clear as time goes by.

As I have been prompted by Dragon, I have been concentrating on food stores. Beans and Rice are the biggies. I will back off the beans here pretty soon and stick mainly with Rice. Beans get too hard too quick. Rice stays good for a lot longer. The wife bought some Pinto beans. I love Pinto beans. And I read the other day that the old southern dish of Pinto Beans and cornbread formed a complete protein. Gotta have it.

From the mouth of the man at Bear Ridge I got word, or rather the Handmaiden got word, that a steady diet of Beans and Rice is the most boring of menus. I guess eating to live and living to eat are different ideas. Thus the Handmaiden has it in her head to buy Spices to make boring dishes more interesting. I applauded her effort in a maximum manner. Most of my studies have led me to the conclusion that we will be losing weight as a result of SHTF and most assuredly TEOTWAWKI. I also applaud this, as we are getting too damn fat for our own good. I must say that the Handmaiden isn't too fat, just a little bit plump, but not much. I, however, could lose a 100 pounds and not miss it a damn bit. Maybe even a bit more than 100 pounds. I may not be too agile anymore, but I am a professional leaner. You betcha.

A nagging thought keeps going through my mind as to what the hell things will turn out to be like for an EXTENDED period of real bad times. Like Dragon was saying the other day, three months supply of food is barely enough to cover your ass with a minimum of security and that is only if you don't get run over by the idiots of this world at the start of Winter. Hell, it takes most of four months to get a garden in and stored. And as you wade through the possible scenarios you realize that Dragon is right, as are the Mormons and others. Storing up a three or four month supply is not gonna make it. It would appear that a year's supply is the minimum to shoot for. And that is a bitch but it is the way it is.

And what about things like coffee and salt? Sure, there will be some of both around, for a while. But what about after a while? And how are you and all your buddies gonna preserve all that meat in your freezers when the electricity goes out? You gonna eat it all at once? Not a good plan. But if you had plenty of salt you could preserve it for a good amount of time and stretch it out like it was supposed to be eaten. So is a 100 pounds of per family what we should be shooting for? 200 pounds? You tell me. But this is one of thoses things we gotta get right the first time. Indiana ain't on a coastline. No prospect of drying salt out of seawater.

And coffee. What will we do with a bunch of coffee addicts when they run out? They will run out of caffeine and have no energy for work. They could become despondent. Their bowels won't work properly without their magic alkaloid in the morning. Risky business running out of coffee right off the bat. Best to have a few BIG cans set back for bad times. And if you are strong enough to handle the loss of one of life's legal drugs, think of the barter potential! Let's don't run out of coffee right at first.

What about hard liquor? I don't fancy it myself, much, but it sure is popular in this world. A case of cheap whiskey that appears a month or two after a world calamity, a bottle at a time, could be a helluva barter tool.

And I could go on about flour and baking soda and yeast and sugar and a whole lot of stuff. The supplies of the kitchen are not to be trifled with as to their importance.

I think I was reading the Bear Ridge Project the other day and I scored an article that said the first 72 hours of an emergency situation are the most taxing on the human. That just means to feed out really well for the first three days. Stress and activity are really gonna take it out of you so you are better off putting it back in quickly. Words to the wise are sufficient.

I read a survival book this week and on the subject of bartering, the local yokels had a place where they did all of their bartering. They didn't do it from their homes. Good idea. You don't want people knocking on your door at night wanting a cigarette or a drink of whiskey or wine.

Stay alive.
