MORE FOR TUESDAY

THE GREATEST LIE EVER TOLD.

Rise of sea levels is 'the greatest lie ever told'
The uncompromising verdict of Dr Mörner is that all this talk about the sea rising is nothing but a colossal scare story, writes Christopher Booker.

Christopher Booker

If one thing more than any other is used to justify proposals that the world must spend tens of trillions of dollars on combating global warming, it is the belief that we face a disastrous rise in sea levels. The Antarctic and Greenland ice caps will melt, we are told, warming oceans will expand, and the result will be catastrophe.

Although the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) only predicts a sea level rise of 59cm (17 inches) by 2100, Al Gore in his Oscar-winning film An Inconvenient Truth went much further, talking of 20 feet, and showing computer graphics of cities such as Shanghai and San Francisco half under water. We all know the graphic showing central London in similar plight. As for tiny island nations such as the Maldives and Tuvalu, as Prince Charles likes to tell us and the Archbishop of Canterbury was again parroting last week, they are due to vanish.

But if there is one scientist who knows more about sea levels than anyone else in the world it is the Swedish geologist and physicist Nils-Axel Mörner, formerly chairman of the INQUA International Commission on Sea Level Change. And the uncompromising verdict of Dr Mörner, who for 35 years has been using every known scientific method to study sea levels all over the globe, is that all this talk about the sea rising is nothing but a colossal scare story.

Despite fluctuations down as well as up, "the sea is not rising," he says. "It hasn't risen in 50 years." If there is any rise this century it will "not be more than 10cm (four inches), with an uncertainty of plus or minus 10cm". And quite apart from examining the hard evidence, he says, the elementary laws of physics (latent heat needed to melt ice) tell us that the apocalypse conjured up by Al Gore and Co could not possibly come about.

The reason why Dr Mörner, formerly a Stockholm professor, is so certain that these claims about sea level rise are 100 per cent wrong is that they are all based on computer model predictions, whereas his findings are based on "going into the field to observe what is actually happening in the real world".

When running the International Commission on Sea Level Change, he launched a special project on the Maldives, whose leaders have for 20 years been calling for vast sums of international aid to stave off disaster. Six times he and his expert team visited the islands, to confirm that the sea has not risen for half a century. Before announcing his findings, he offered to show the inhabitants a film explaining why they had nothing to worry about. The government refused to let it be shown.

Similarly in Tuvalu, where local leaders have been calling for the inhabitants to be evacuated for 20 years, the sea has if anything dropped in recent decades. The only evidence the scaremongers can cite is based on the fact that extracting groundwater for pineapple growing has allowed seawater to seep in to replace it. Meanwhile, Venice has been sinking rather than the Adriatic rising, says Dr Mörner.

One of his most shocking discoveries was why the IPCC has been able to show sea levels rising by 2.3mm a year. Until 2003, even its own satellite-based evidence showed no upward trend. But suddenly the graph tilted upwards because the IPCC's favoured experts had drawn on the finding of a single tide-gauge in Hong Kong harbour showing a 2.3mm rise. The entire global sea-level projection was then adjusted upwards by a "corrective factor" of 2.3mm, because, as the IPCC scientists admitted, they "needed to show a trend".

When I spoke to Dr Mörner last week, he expressed his continuing dismay at how the IPCC has fed the scare on this crucial issue. When asked to act as an "expert reviewer" on the IPCC's last two reports, he was "astonished to find that not one of their 22 contributing authors on sea levels was a sea level specialist: not one". Yet the results of all this "deliberate ignorance" and reliance on rigged computer models have become the most powerful single driver of the entire warmist hysteria.

NOT MUCH

I was listening to Big John and they cut his last segment off and left us hangin'. I have not been able to call him and I have not been able to get through to GCN. And GCN always answers the phone. I do believe that someone has stuck it to Big John. It has been almost an hour and I still cannot get through to GCN. No one will answer Big John's number at home either. Might be time to go over to Toronto, Kansas, and get some things straightened out. Sure wish I had a truck I could count on to make it to Kansas and back. I would sure like to head out and take a look.

Obama should be landing his entourage in England Tuesday, all 500+ of them. He will be trying to get the G-20 to take on the responsibility of healing the world economy, at least the healing according to Obama. I talked to Charles Bell tonight and he was just enchanted by all the phantasmagoric manipulations being done by the Obama administration. In Europe he has been treated like a rock star. I will have to side with Charles and consider Obama someone a little less than a Messiah.

I'll write more later.

A QUIET WEEKEND

It's been a quiet weekend. I got to talk a bit with an old buddy and that was enjoyable. He is about 8 or 10 years younger than me and it is good to hear his opinion. I think he was playing cagey and wanted to hear my opinion but I out waited him and got him to talking. He is having a year of opposites. He cheerfully admits that the country is having a depression and he uses the "D" word quite easily. On the other hand he is making more money than he ever made in his life, getting $33 an hour as a skilled tradesman. Right now he is working 40 hours a week, every week. Pretty nice money. But he says he will be back to his old method of hunting jobs down every day if the economy goes completely bonkers. He has done it before and he will do it again. Everyone knows him and knows he is a "git 'er done" kind of guy. I was proud of him. He has a 10 year old paid-for home, his wife has a very nice car that is paid for and his pick-up truck is almost free and clear. He went into debt for all of it but he got some breaks and he worked his ass off and he is looking pretty good at this point.

Obama fired the Chairman and CEO of General Motors this weekend, Rick Wagoner. The Bushites got the CEO of AIG out of office when the feds had to give them federal money and this looks like some sort of pay back. Politics is a harsh game. You reward your friends and punish your enemies...day after day after day. It is an unceasing made of life. General Motors must not have paid off the Obama campaign. It's all right. Wagoner had 30 years in at GM and probably has plenty of loot to live on. I wonder how Obama and his henchmen can make bail-out money to GM on the premise that GM coughs up a few million to the national party and those running for office. But you know, that probably ain't what's going on at all. Rick Wagoner probably wants out of GM and wants into a nice secure retirement and this is his opportunity. Wagoner tells Obama that he wants out and to make it look like Obama is doing it to honor the "people" of this country. Wagoner hits the happy trail and Obama gets to look like a man of the people. For 16 billion dollars in bail-out funds GM's board will do anything Wagoner wants. The American people get fucked but Obama gets to look good. We never get to hear the conversation where it all gets decided but we can put the pieces together over a glass of wine and some good Brie.

I have just about given up on my generation ever throwing off the yoke of tyranny and insanity that rules over it. Most are like me and ain't much good for anything but planning and ambushes. We are too fat and out of shape. The garden will have us back in to better shape by the middle of Summer. But I am afraid it will have to be my son's generation that makes the big move and I haven't got the slightest idea of how they feel about a goddamn thing. Most of them do not show the slightest inclination toward politics or war. It's like they are not sissy but they just haven't shown any interest. I ain't gonna stir them up because I just start more arguments with them than I start discussions. And that might not be a masterful example of diplomacy, but on the other hand you might try grabbing a hold of my son. See what that gets you. What I am saying is that you can breed for a very smart masculine motherfucker or you can breed for something a little less. I went for the motherfucker. For you guys who want to follow in my breeding footsteps you must honestly be a sort of warrior type of fella with an IQ somewhere around 150 and you have to breed with a throat cutting bitch who can get a Masters degree in Computer Science, or any other type of education. If the genes fall just right you can have yourself a real mess to dump on humanity. And humanity really deserves to have a mess dumped upon them. Being the rebellious type, I can guarantee that I have done all that I could to seal the fate of the clones, as Big John calls them. Y'all get in there and do some of the same! We need all the help we can get!

Obama goes to Europe today with over 500 people in his entourage. See, the USA is the sole remaining super power on the planet and when we send the President overseas even his shoe shine boy goes first class. And it all comes under National Security, you understand. You do understand, don't you?

AND THE BEAT GOES ON

The pressure in the pipeline is building up and I feel to wrote a bit more. Sometimes I don't think you can hold any more, but then you say you can so here it is.

I got a personal phone call from a Staying Alive reader admonishing me to keep on writing. I will try to uphold that thought. Listening to Max Keiser makes it a lot easier to write. That line about tearing the heads off the bankers and shitting in their necks was just about the highlight of my morning. Max is definitely a wordsmith of great talent. And before I get jumped on for excluding a lot of other human scum who need the head and neck and shit treatment, I have not forgot them at all. But I am enjoying the wonderfulness of Mad Max's words. I reckon you all know that Wall Street has to be joined by Washington, D.C. in this little punitive exercise. Oh! Don't lose track of where Hank Paulson, ex-secretary of the Treasury is hiding these days. He needs to swing from the same street post as Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. That will be a busy street one of these days. A lot of guys we all know and hate will end their days there.

The same old gang that robbed us once is robbing us a second time down on Wall Street. And they are doing it right in front of us. The reward is that great. Will our children and our grandchildren be the same kind of congenital rip-off's that we despise so much right now? What is life trying to teach me right here?

The Texas Preppers Network has an article up that explains why the idea of American guns being such a menace to Mexico is a joke. Read it at http://texaspreppersnetwork.blogspot.com/. It's the top story. A well done article put up by a prepper, of course.

I admonish you to keep what the good God had given you.

Got preps? Got guns? Got a revolution?

OFF WITH THEIR HEADS

Here is a video that explains how the centraal bankers and their big dollar stooges like Goldman Sachs are screwing the American public.

ANOTHER PLOY TO CASTRATE YOU

Who Is Arming the Mexican Drug Cartels?
by Michael Gaddy

The state, Mexican authorities and their US propaganda arm, known in most circles as the Mainstream Media, have recently embarked on a huge disinformation campaign to demonize the American gun owner as the supplier of weapons to the Mexican drug cartels. Everyone in the media, with the possible exception of Lou Dobbs, has joined in the campaign of lies.

Shown here, on a CBS special, is video proof of the lies and disinformation by CBS, US and Mexican authorities. Anderson Cooper and Janet Napolitano are either ignorant or complicit in the myth that M-203s, RPGs and hand grenades are readily available to the American gun consumer. Most intelligent folks, and those without a state sponsored agenda, realize these weapons are usually only available to the military.

This week, Secretary of Homeland Defense, Janet Napolitano, announced a new plan to curb the alleged flow of weapons from the US into Mexico. This program, which will cost the overwhelmed US Taxpayer another 700 million dollars plus, includes machines that employ what is referred to as "virtual strip search." This plan will supposedly slow down the number of guns traveling south from the US to the drug cartels in Mexico. If this program has the same success rate as the government’s efforts at stopping the flow of contraband north into the US, the Mexican drug cartels will have nuclear weapons by the end of April!

While not stated as such, I am sure this will eventually morph into "the war on guns." Funny, is it not, every time our government "declares war" on something, it always increases exponentially! Whether it is poverty, drugs, terrorism or guns, when the state declares war, rapid growth and expansion of that which is the object of that war is inevitable.

Napolitano stated, "70% of the weapons in the hands of the drug cartels are coming from the US." The implication is obvious she is referring to private gun owners. The MSM sucks up this propaganda like a large-mouth bass takes a worm, and regurgitates it to Boobus without ever questioning the truthfulness behind the claim. Neither Mexican, nor US officials, has ever produced an ounce of proof to back up these wild accusations.

Wednesday, on MSNBC, in an interview by Andrea Mitchell, New York Congressional Representative, Nita Lowey stated 97% of the guns in the hands of the Mexican drug cartels originated in the US. Representative Lowey, in her support for a new Assault Weapons Ban, alleges these firearms are coming from the American gun owner. She is correct in her assertion many of the firearms being used by the cartels are coming from Americans. They are, but, from the American taxpayer, not the American gun owner!

The fact is: the Mexican authorities have refused to release the serial numbers of weapons confiscated from drug cartel members. Releasing the serial numbers would implicate the corrupt governments of the US and Mexico and their involvement in arming the drug cartels.

Considering the above, it is my belief the Mexican drug cartels are procuring a large percentage of weapons from the world’s largest supplier of these weapons: the United States government!
The type of weapons confiscated and the unwillingness of those involved to supply weapon serial numbers is a clear indicator.

Because of the "narco-wars," the US government supplies the Mexican military with arms and training. The Mexican military has trained at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, and the arms budget from the US to Mexico is in the billions.

Drug profits realized from the sale of drugs in the US by Mexico’s violent drug cartels are estimated to be as high as 40 billion dollars per year. With that amount of money, is there any question as to the ability of the cartels to purchase military weapons provided by the United States government from corrupt Mexican government officials and members of their military?
In the mid 1990s, U.S. government statistics revealed at least six billion dollars a year was spent by the cartels in bribes and payoffs to officials in the Mexican government and military.

In February of 1997, the Clinton Administration announced it was certifying the Mexican government as a "full ally" in the war on drugs. Clinton’s Drug Czar, Army General Barry McCaffrey, described Mexican General Jesus Gutierrez Rebollo, who headed up the Mexican National Institute to Combat Drugs (INCD) as a "man of absolute unquestioned character."(Emphasis added) Shortly after McCaffrey’s statement, Rebollo was arrested for taking bribes from one of the largest drug cartels in Mexico. Rebollo had been present at secret meetings involving the White House, the Central Intelligence Agency and the Drug Enforcement Agency.

When speaking of drug cartels and military weapons, one would be remiss in not covering the involvement of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and their decades-long involvement in worldwide drug trafficking. The evidence produced at the Iran Contra hearings proved the CIA was involved with smuggling cocaine in order to fund the Nicaraguan Contra Army. Is there any question they are involved with the Mexican drug cartels and perhaps facilitating their procurement of military weapons, or better yet, trading arms for drugs?

In 2007, then President George W. Bush, with help from Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, was able to get legislation passed that would provide Mexico with at least 1.4 billion dollars for Mexican military and police forces.

In May of 2008, Kristen Bricker wrote of Plan Mexico, "Plan Mexico will provide resources, equipment, and training to the Mexican government, police, and military. It will not give Mexico liquid funds. The US military, government agencies such as USAID, and US defense contractors such as mercenary firms and weapons manufacturers will receive funding to carry out Plan Mexico. Plan Mexico is yet another bill to line the pockets of the military industrial complex."

Our government is certainly aware of the rampant corruption within the Mexican government and military, yet we continue to provide them with money, military weapons and training, including all of the military weapons mentioned earlier in this article and shown in film clips by the mainstream media as proof positive we need a new Assault Weapons Ban. (AWB)

Our corrupt government, cooperating with Mexico’s equally corrupt government, has embarked on a campaign to deprive American citizens of the means to defend ourselves from tyranny, screening their own involvement in arming violent criminal drug cartels. We can weakly submit, or stand for truth and liberty; the choice is ours.

RESIST AND BE ACCURATE

I have been reading quite a bit today. I am finding out that folks are not too happy about the forced volunteer plan going forth in Obama's administration. Just one more reason for civil war. They are not too happy about the sloppy bookkeeping going on with the Wall Street guys either. America is going to have to face up to the fact that Obama is a fucking Socialist and he ain't got any more mental development than that. What I am saying is that the man is stupid and we all think he is smart. Read Erniesjourney at http://indianapreppersnetwork.blogspot.com/2009/03/time-table.html. Anybody with half a brain knows that this is gonna get out and the whole world is gonna know. Either this man is so egotistical he thinks he can swing it, or he is dumber than a mud fence in the rain forest. But the reality of the banks closing and martial law being declared is a big trip no matter how you look at it.

And I don't doubt that it is on the way. When you have people like Ron Paul and Bill Bonner getting with a group of friends and proclaiming a 15 year Depression then something is amiss and you had better be paying attention. A man who runs a family is expected to make the proper decisions in life that will feed the whole flock. If someone goes and jerks one of your regular foundations out from under your normal scheme of things you could come up shy of the mark. This could cause hunger and other problems to come among you and those you hold dear could be very uncomfortable in life. And though you might be responsible for the oversight, you had the rug pulled out from under you by a corrupt system.

But you stayed away from the bank after you had your mortgage paid off. You kept the land free and clear like a good man should. And you put organic soil amendments into your dirt so your garden would be clean and good. You bought non-hybrid seed and planted it right. You could eat good food and have seed for next years crop. You did it all right. You behaved in a proper manner and looked after your responsibilities. And then about that time some butt-sucking servant of Satan comes along and tells you that your garden will be confiscated for the good of society and you will be reimbursed with US Dollars for your time and trouble. Of course, the money ain't any good so that is no comfort. And you get to thinking about it and you decide that taking your garden is attempted murder. The bastards are trying to starve you to death! And they can sort of do that to you. The mis-named Patriot Act gives the fedgov the power to take your food. It also gives them the authority to take anything else they want that you might have. At the moment of confiscation I suggest you be armed and ready to resist. They ain't gonna give it back so you will just have to take it. Be firm in your resolve to resist the confiscation of your food and be firm in your accuracy. If we all are granted the grace to perform these two functions in an admirable manner, we will win any conflict against any oppressor.

Got preps? Got guns? Got a revolution?

THIS ONE IS EASY

IT IS midnight on 22 September 2012 and the skies above Manhattan are filled with a flickering curtain of colourful light. Few New Yorkers have seen the aurora this far south but their fascination is short-lived. Within a few seconds, electric bulbs dim and flicker, then become unusually bright for a fleeting moment. Then all the lights in the state go out. Within 90 seconds, the entire eastern half of the US is without power.

A year later and millions of Americans are dead and the nation's infrastructure lies in tatters. The World Bank declares America a developing nation. Europe, Scandinavia, China and Japan are also struggling to recover from the same fateful event - a violent storm, 150 million kilometres away on the surface of the sun.

It sounds ridiculous. Surely the sun couldn't create so profound a disaster on Earth. Yet an extraordinary report funded by NASA and issued by the US National Academy of Sciences (NAS) in January this year claims it could do just that.

Over the last few decades, western civilisations have busily sown the seeds of their own destruction. Our modern way of life, with its reliance on technology, has unwittingly exposed us to an extraordinary danger: plasma balls spewed from the surface of the sun could wipe out our power grids, with catastrophic consequences.

The projections of just how catastrophic make chilling reading. "We're moving closer and closer to the edge of a possible disaster," says Daniel Baker, a space weather expert based at the University of Colorado in Boulder, and chair of the NAS committee responsible for the report.

It is hard to conceive of the sun wiping out a large amount of our hard-earned progress. Nevertheless, it is possible. The surface of the sun is a roiling mass of plasma - charged high-energy particles - some of which escape the surface and travel through space as the solar wind. From time to time, that wind carries a billion-tonne glob of plasma, a fireball known as a coronal mass ejection (see "When hell comes to Earth"). If one should hit the Earth's magnetic shield, the result could be truly devastating.

The incursion of the plasma into our atmosphere causes rapid changes in the configuration of Earth's magnetic field which, in turn, induce currents in the long wires of the power grids. The grids were not built to handle this sort of direct current electricity. The greatest danger is at the step-up and step-down transformers used to convert power from its transport voltage to domestically useful voltage. The increased DC current creates strong magnetic fields that saturate a transformer's magnetic core. The result is runaway current in the transformer's copper wiring, which rapidly heats up and melts. This is exactly what happened in the Canadian province of Quebec in March 1989, and six million people spent 9 hours without electricity. But things could get much, much worse than that.

Worse than Katrina

The most serious space weather event in history happened in 1859. It is known as the Carrington event, after the British amateur astronomer Richard Carrington, who was the first to note its cause: "two patches of intensely bright and white light" emanating from a large group of sunspots. The Carrington event comprised eight days of severe space weather.

There were eyewitness accounts of stunning auroras, even at equatorial latitudes. The world's telegraph networks experienced severe disruptions, and Victorian magnetometers were driven off the scale.

Though a solar outburst could conceivably be more powerful, "we haven't found an example of anything worse than a Carrington event", says James Green, head of NASA's planetary division and an expert on the events of 1859. "From a scientific perspective, that would be the one that we'd want to survive." However, the prognosis from the NAS analysis is that, thanks to our technological prowess, many of us may not.

There are two problems to face. The first is the modern electricity grid, which is designed to operate at ever higher voltages over ever larger areas. Though this provides a more efficient way to run the electricity networks, minimising power losses and wastage through overproduction, it has made them much more vulnerable to space weather. The high-power grids act as particularly efficient antennas, channelling enormous direct currents into the power transformers.

The second problem is the grid's interdependence with the systems that support our lives: water and sewage treatment, supermarket delivery infrastructures, power station controls, financial markets and many others all rely on electricity. Put the two together, and it is clear that a repeat of the Carrington event could produce a catastrophe the likes of which the world has never seen. "It's just the opposite of how we usually think of natural disasters," says John Kappenman, a power industry analyst with the Metatech Corporation of Goleta, California, and an advisor to the NAS committee that produced the report. "Usually the less developed regions of the world are most vulnerable, not the highly sophisticated technological regions."

According to the NAS report, a severe space weather event in the US could induce ground currents that would knock out 300 key transformers within about 90 seconds, cutting off the power for more than 130 million people (see map). From that moment, the clock is ticking for America.

First to go - immediately for some people - is drinkable water. Anyone living in a high-rise apartment, where water has to be pumped to reach them, would be cut off straight away. For the rest, drinking water will still come through the taps for maybe half a day. With no electricity to pump water from reservoirs, there is no more after that.

There is simply no electrically powered transport: no trains, underground or overground. Our just-in-time culture for delivery networks may represent the pinnacle of efficiency, but it means that supermarket shelves would empty very quickly - delivery trucks could only keep running until their tanks ran out of fuel, and there is no electricity to pump any more from the underground tanks at filling stations.

Back-up generators would run at pivotal sites - but only until their fuel ran out. For hospitals, that would mean about 72 hours of running a bare-bones, essential care only, service. After that, no more modern healthcare.

72 hours of healthcare remaining

The truly shocking finding is that this whole situation would not improve for months, maybe years: melted transformer hubs cannot be repaired, only replaced. "From the surveys I've done, you might have a few spare transformers around, but installing a new one takes a well-trained crew a week or more," says Kappenman. "A major electrical utility might have one suitably trained crew, maybe two."Within a month, then, the handful of spare transformers would be used up. The rest will have to be built to order, something that can take up to 12 months.

Even when some systems are capable of receiving power again, there is no guarantee there will be any to deliver. Almost all natural gas and fuel pipelines require electricity to operate. Coal-fired power stations usually keep reserves to last 30 days, but with no transport systems running to bring more fuel, there will be no electricity in the second month.

30 days of coal left

Nuclear power stations wouldn't fare much better. They are programmed to shut down in the event of serious grid problems and are not allowed to restart until the power grid is up and running.

With no power for heating, cooling or refrigeration systems, people could begin to die within days. There is immediate danger for those who rely on medication. Lose power to New Jersey, for instance, and you have lost a major centre of production of pharmaceuticals for the entire US. Perishable medications such as insulin will soon be in short supply. "In the US alone there are a million people with diabetes," Kappenman says. "Shut down production, distribution and storage and you put all those lives at risk in very short order.

"Help is not coming any time soon, either. If it is dark from the eastern seaboard to Chicago, some affected areas are hundreds, maybe thousands of miles away from anyone who might help. And those willing to help are likely to be ill-equipped to deal with the sheer scale of the disaster. "If a Carrington event happened now, it would be like a hurricane Katrina, but 10 times worse," says Paul Kintner, a plasma physicist at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.

In reality, it would be much worse than that. Hurricane Katrina's societal and economic impact has been measured at $81 billion to $125 billion. According to the NAS report, the impact of what it terms a "severe geomagnetic storm scenario" could be as high as $2 trillion. And that's just the first year after the storm. The NAS puts the recovery time at four to 10 years. It is questionable whether the US would ever bounce back.

4-10 years to recover

"I don't think the NAS report is scaremongering," says Mike Hapgood, who chairs the European Space Agency's space weather team. Green agrees. "Scientists are conservative by nature and this group is really thoughtful," he says. "This is a fair and balanced report.

"Such nightmare scenarios are not restricted to North America. High latitude nations such as Sweden and Norway have been aware for a while that, while regular views of the aurora are pretty, they are also reminders of an ever-present threat to their electricity grids. However, the trend towards installing extremely high voltage grids means that lower latitude countries are also at risk. For example, China is on the way to implementing a 1000-kilovolt electrical grid, twice the voltage of the US grid. This would be a superb conduit for space weather-induced disaster because the grid's efficiency to act as an antenna rises as the voltage between the grid and the ground increases. "China is going to discover at some point that they have a problem," Kappenman says.

Neither is Europe sufficiently prepared. Responsibility for dealing with space weather issues is "very fragmented" in Europe, says Hapgood.

Europe's electricity grids, on the other hand, are highly interconnected and extremely vulnerable to cascading failures. In 2006, the routine switch-off of a small part of Germany's grid - to let a ship pass safely under high-voltage cables - caused a cascade power failure across western Europe. In France alone, five million people were left without electricity for two hours. "These systems are so complicated we don't fully understand the effects of twiddling at one place," Hapgood says. "Most of the time it's alright, but occasionally it will get you."

The good news is that, given enough warning, the utility companies can take precautions, such as adjusting voltages and loads, and restricting transfers of energy so that sudden spikes in current don't cause cascade failures. There is still more bad news, however. Our early warning system is becoming more unreliable by the day.

By far the most important indicator of incoming space weather is NASA's Advanced Composition Explorer (ACE). The probe, launched in 1997, has a solar orbit that keeps it directly between the sun and Earth. Its uninterrupted view of the sun means it gives us continuous reports on the direction and velocity of the solar wind and other streams of charged particles that flow past its sensors. ACE can provide between 15 and 45 minutes' warning of any incoming geomagnetic storms. The power companies need about 15 minutes to prepare their systems for a critical event, so that would seem passable.

15 minutes' warning

However, observations of the sun and magnetometer readings during the Carrington event shows that the coronal mass ejection was travelling so fast it took less than 15 minutes to get from where ACE is positioned to Earth. "It arrived faster than we can do anything," Hapgood says.

There is another problem. ACE is 11 years old, and operating well beyond its planned lifespan. The onboard detectors are not as sensitive as they used to be, and there is no telling when they will finally give up the ghost. Furthermore, its sensors become saturated in the event of a really powerful solar flare. "It was built to look at average conditions rather than extremes," Baker says.

He was part of a space weather commission that three years ago warned about the problems of relying on ACE. "It's been on my mind for a long time," he says. "To not have a spare, or a strategy to replace it if and when it should fail, is rather foolish.

"There is no replacement for ACE due any time soon. Other solar observation satellites, such as the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) can provide some warning, but with less detailed information and - crucially - much later. "It's quite hard to assess what the impact of losing ACE will be," Hapgood says. "We will largely lose the early warning capability."

The world will, most probably, yawn at the prospect of a devastating solar storm until it happens. Kintner says his students show a "deep indifference" when he lectures on the impact of space weather. But if policy-makers show a similar indifference in the face of the latest NAS report, it could cost tens of millions of lives, Kappenman reckons. "It could conceivably be the worst natural disaster possible," he says.

The report outlines the worst case scenario for the US. The "perfect storm" is most likely on a spring or autumn night in a year of heightened solar activity - something like 2012. Around the equinoxes, the orientation of the Earth's field to the sun makes us particularly vulnerable to a plasma strike.

What's more, at these times of year, electricity demand is relatively low because no one needs too much heating or air conditioning. With only a handful of the US grid's power stations running, the system relies on computer algorithms shunting large amounts of power around the grid and this leaves the network highly vulnerable to sudden spikes.

If ACE has failed by then, or a plasma ball flies at us too fast for any warning from ACE to reach us, the consequences could be staggering. "A really large storm could be a planetary disaster," Kappenman says.

So what should be done? No one knows yet - the report is meant to spark that conversation. Baker is worried, though, that the odds are stacked against that conversation really getting started. As the NAS report notes, it is terribly difficult to inspire people to prepare for a potential crisis that has never happened before and may not happen for decades to come. "It takes a lot of effort to educate policy-makers, and that is especially true with these low-frequency events," he says.

We should learn the lessons of hurricane Katrina, though, and realise that "unlikely" doesn't mean "won't happen". Especially when the stakes are so high. The fact is, it could come in the next three or four years - and with devastating effects. "The Carrington event happened during a mediocre, ho-hum solar cycle," Kintner says. "It came out of nowhere, so we just don't know when something like that is going to happen again."

LOW WATTAGE

It just doesn't seem to be there today. It's like the syrup won't flow. Yesterday it was like there was a full container I was pouring into and there was no more room for any more water.

I got a lot of comments on my last blog post. A lot of my daily "food for thought" wrote to me. Sorta like my heros. People I really respect. People that help me keep going in this crazy fucking world. And it is a crazy fucking world.

I told my friend Charles this morning that I was looking forward to my garden, hard work though it is, because at least I would be doing something beneficial. His attitude was that the world had turned into a big ball of BLAH and he didn't feel like pushing it up hill this morning. Maybe when we all can get back to doing something beneficial the world will be okay again. Can't tell! It just might work thataway!

I will post an interesting article in a little while. It's kinda long but it is pretty damn good.

Take care.

WHO GIVES A SHIT?

I am coming to grips with my inability to write much any more. There is not much going on regarding my message. There are no marches in the streets or anything like that. I get 450 to 500 readers a day and it makes no difference to America. I can say anything I want and it makes no difference to this apathetic group of people we call citizens. YOU JUST DON'T GIVE FUCK. And if you will excuse me, I will not give a fuck anymore myself. I do not get 5% response anymore. And it is probably best that I don't.

So I cast aside most my following and tell it to go fuck off. I have fought the good fight and it has gotten me no satisfaction. Less than 10% of my readers have ever gotten in touch with me. And I ain't hurtin' for company, either. Got plenty, thank you. I have watched a National Geographic movie tonight that showed the enslavement of African people by folks from Belgium. I thought about what is going to be pulled on us in the future. It is going to be pretty much hellish to behold. And the people I have warned, who do not believe me, will suffer horribly. You will have your own water supply, your own food, your own protective force, your own medical people, your own villages, or you will be slaves. And that is about as simplistic as you will hear it. Like my friend Charles says, "Do not be deceived." He just means to not fall of any more bullshit. Your media is lying to you. Your treacherous government is ripping you off and lying to you. You think that because Obama threw some trillions of dollars out there and the stock market went up and the happy talk got started again that things are okay. Nothing could be further from the truth. They are just making more plastic coffins and more sets of chains and they will be right back to use them on you and yours. And my God but it will be a mess.

If you live in a rough area, an area known for rough people like the Hatfields and the McCoys, an area where people stick together, you may have a chance. If you live in a pussy city then you will have a pussy chance. I won't even commit hypocrisy enough to wish a city dweller good luck, because you ain't gonna get it.

We are going through a time of false prosperity in the immediate future. The financial people will be acting like happy days are here again. Fools will invest in the stock market. Mr. and Mrs. Obama will be working in their organic garden out in the Whitehouse backyard. It is going to look just swell for a few fucking months and then the chickens will come home to roost again. "I got that old feeling." It is amazing how people forget about survival when the fucking Boob Tube tells them things are getting better. If that one-eyed electronic God tell them something they believe it. Fuck what I have to say, or any other thinking man in the country, when the tube speaks the people fall into step just like they are supposed to. And that is MY lesson. I learn just how much of humanity I can trust. And it ain't exactly an overwhelming percentage. Hah! I figured, a little over a year ago when I started blogging, that my message would be received. I didn't try to get money from people. I did what I felt was proper toward other survivalists. I provided the best advice from the best people I knew. And I have brought 37 to 38 years of experience to the table to go along with my very good friends. But America is too stupid to grasp basic survivalism. They just can't get it. Beans, bullets, and band-aids are just too much for them. The politicians and the bankers and the lawyers have been ripping them off like crazy and they still ain't caught on to it.

I listened to Big John's show tonight and I heard some woman say that you can die for something or you can die for nothing. I reckon the average American lives life for nothing and thinks he is getting a good deal. Just please stay the hell away from me, thank you. You losers attract too much fucking attention from the bad guys. I'm afraid I might have to shoot you just to save my own ass. We are gonna get down to Jungle Rules pretty soon and I don't want any weak sisters with me. Like I said, it is going to be a mess. We have over 300 million people on this continent. It ain't gonna be like it was a couple hundred years ago. It is going to be cruel and inhuman and very difficult. Charity and mercy are going to be in extremely short supply. My mercy and charity will be in direct proportion to what I can defend and feed. Things will get very Patriarchal in the future and women who have been true and faithful to their men will be very glad they did. Disobedient whores will be sorry. That is just the way life is gonna be and I can't be responsible for that. I will not be making all the rules but I will be living by the rules. I think the rules will be made as we go along. It will be easier if your are well armed. So get your shit together.

Got preps? Got guns? Got a revolution?

Washington Fiddles as Global Deflation Rages
March 24, 2009

Raise your glass to the hard working people
Let's drink to the uncounted heads
Let's think of the wavering millions
Who need leaders but get gamblers instead
"Salt of the Earth"The Rolling Stones

In the latest post on our Picking Nits blog, "Idle Fs: Asset-Rich Operationally Stressed Banks," IRA CEO Dennis Santiago comments on the long-term business model trends visible in the 2008 FDIC data, including disturbing evidence that a number of banks have effectively shut down lending operations. As their portfolios run off, these banks must shrink both in terms of assets and core revenues.

Here is the prepared statement by IRA co-founder Chris Whalen for today's hearing before the Senate Banking Committee, "Modernizing Bank Supervision and Regulation." Riding on the Acela at 6:00AM this morning, we could not help but recall those times we appeared before Chairman Henry B. Gonzalez (D-TX) to discuss some of the very issues that trouble the global markets today. Below follow thoughts and observations on the Geithner/Summers public/private proposal to address toxic assets, at least as we understand it.

The mangers of the private hedge and equity funds would put up 10-20% of the amount of the cost of the assets. Fed would fund the balance at sub-market rates, while the Fed and ultimately the taxpayer would assume the risk of any losses. And the investors look to get most of the profits. You can change the assumptions regarding asset performance or pay out rates, but if asset performance is as officialdom anticipates, then this plan is a monumental give away to the Sell Side dealers. Remember neither the managers nor the private investors are bearing any downside risk. Indeed, the Geithner Plan III represents a very cheap call option on the toxic asset pile.

As economist Dick Alford told The IRA: "The structure as described in the press is nothing more than the Fed, FDIC and Treasury providing some asset managers with calls on the upside--max loss equal to 3% of assets? When was the Fed or the FDIC authorized to sell or give away call options? I suppose that they will try to sell this as a non-recourse loan, but it isn't. It is an option… The investors would in effect be left with sub-market financing and ownership of much of the upside potential. The implied rates of return to the private side are staggering, especially given the absence of any downside risk."

Proponents argue that this plan will allow for "price discovery," but that kind of depends on the price you want to discover. The value of the "priced discovery" is very limited in the world of Washington, in part because the big banks refuse to admit that the true, economic value of many toxic assets is around $0.30 on the $1. Thus the price discovered will be a price premised upon no downside risk and guaranteed sub-market funding, all designed to help the bond holders of these banks avoid a haircut. If this is what Secretary Geithner calls a market based solution, then we may as well nationalize all the banks, flush private property rights and declare The Jubilee.

More troubling, the perception in officialdom is that many toxic assets that have been marked down dramatically ($0.20-0.40 on the $1) will continue to perform, and will thus continue to make timely payments. Secretary Geithner and Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke seem to believe that the economic value of these assets would, in "normal" market conditions, be upwards of $0.80 on the $1 of value. Thus we seemingly have a $0.50 per dollar difference between the theoretical price in the Geithner/Bernanke world and the $0.30 per $1 valuation in the markets today.

Illustrating the popular view that the financial crisis is "only" an accounting issue, an observer named "sourcethree" posted this comment on The Big Picture last week: "The change in the rules wouldn't have influenced the eventual outcome at Lehman, Bear, etc. because those firms did have too much in the way of real toxic assets that still would have overwhelmed whatever 'benefit' this evolution in the m2m rule would have meant to them… but it would help all banks more clearly define those assets that are toxic vs. those that are simply feeling the crunch of overwhelming selling/non-existent demand for non-credit reasons. Bank of New York is an example of what you're looking for - last quarter, they marked down their Alt-A MBS by $1.2 billion - they said even under their worst case scenario, the losses over time from these securities would only be $200 million - they even had a third party do a similar test and they came up with the same result - so, the difference here for just the last quarter was $1 billion and added to their already $6 billion in unrealized losses from prior quarters. Even if you doubt their assumptions used in their 'worst-case' scenario, the difference between the POTENTIAL credit impairment and the m2m loss they were forced to record was a factor of 6 TIMES."

But as we told the clients of IRA's Advisory Service last week, whatever relief that financial institutions and other residents of the hold-to-maturity world believe that they will receive through the modification of fair-value accounting and other official dispensation, they will lose through deteriorating economic fundamentals and falling cash flows supporting these assets as 2009 unfolds.

Or for those colleagues in the insurance world who thought they dodged the OTTI bullet propelled by fair value accounting rules, look for another projectile right behind it driven by economic factors, namely persistent deflation. As our friend Tom Zimmerman said during the last "Deflating Bubble" session hosted by AEI and PRMIA, subprime loss experience has peaked, prime residential loss rates are going to peak later in 2009 and commercial exposures will see loss rates peak in 2010. This Zombie Dance Party is just warming up.

The surprise facing Geithner, Bernanke et al is that by Q3, the true economic deterioration in many toxic assets will be clear for all to see. That $0.30 per $1 of face value bid that Treasury could hit today will be $0.15 per $1 of face value or less. The funds available today to deal with the financial crisis will be further dissipated. The opportunity cost to the Treasury of the Geithner/Bernanke do nothing approach to toxic assets will be enormous.

Speaking of poor fundamentals, when AIG released information about the amounts and recipients of roughly $100 billion of its government loans from September to December 2008, almost utterly unreported was the fact that the staid, boring, heavily regulated insurance businesses managed to run up losses on securities lending requiring $44 billion of government support.

By way of contrast, the credit derivatives widely blamed for bringing down the world's financial system were consuming $27 billion of support; municipal investment agreements (essentially, deposits) made by municipalities with AIG Financial Products took another $12 billion, and maturing debt took $13 billion. We wonder, just which unit of AIG lent the securities? What did AIG purchase with the proceeds of the securities loan? Could it be that the big story at AIG is the unsoundness of the insurer, not the credit default swaps? Why the misdirected coverage?
Our guess is that we are seeing an unholy alliance of insurance and bank regulators, who would rather point the finger at unregulated credit derivatives and support more regulation as the answer to everything. And don't forget the public officials who don't want people to wonder whether other staid, boring insurance companies that don't do credit derivatives might still have huge problems in their core portfolios. Since securities lending lacks the glamor of M&A or international "Master of the Universe" trading, the media is easily distracted.

After all, analysts have been sounding the alarm on AIG for many years, but it is difficult for the truth to penetrate Wall Street's managed version of reality. As we noted in our statement to the SBC, our friend Tim Freestone identified possible instability in the AIG business as early as 2001. AIG threatened to sue Freestone when he published his findings, which were documented at the time by the Economist magazine.

The Economist and Freestone stood their ground and Hank Greenberg and his lawyers eventually went away, but the markets took little notice. Notables such as Henry Kissinger questioned the Economist story and said "I just want you to know that Hank Greenberg has more integrity than any person I have ever known in my life."

THOUGHTS OF THE FUTURE

The people who watch television are a problem. I knew as a teenager that people watching TV gave off the same brain waves as someone asleep. I always figured that everybody knew that. I guess they don't. There is also the grim possibility that attention deficit disorder comes from TV but Big Pharma denies that and says it is genetically established and you have to take PILLS to control it. Kinda cute, ain't it? The American people are used like tissue paper. Blow snot on them and throw them away. The smartest thing you can do is home school your kids and pitch the TV into the dump. The TV is nothing but mind control. DO NOT LET THE BASTARDS HAVE YOUR MIND!

I went to town this morning to buy some plastic sheeting to seal my home from the outside. I figure it will be just the thing if the bird flu starts coming around. And when I found that Baxter International was playing with it in Eastern Europe I figure the I might as well start getting ready for the fucking bio-terrorism to strike us pretty soon.

You know... there are going to be a lot of people who need killing pretty soon. Those guys who dump the chem trails on us will need a good dose of death. And all those affiliated with them. Shoot the bastards. And I don't know what we can do with the cities. So many people packed tightly into an area of non-food production. Their big claim to fame is they vote. Well, I can't eat a vote and I don't want to support someone just because they vote. I look on those city dwellers as total losers in the future. I can't think of a damn thing I use that comes from a big city. I guess a lot of books are printed in the cities. And maybe a lot of valuable heavy equipment comes form cities. But not every city! I think most of them are parasitic. They just sit there like big ticks and wait to suck your blood. But their real worth is subject to question in this day we are coming to.

Got preps? Got guns? Got a revolution?

SPRING WEEKEND

I got an email from E.M. Joe out in Idaho. He is smart as can be and you will like this one.
****
Suddenly it wasn't a daily read from the world of Stay Alive Dude. But I also know why, the time for most of the talking is about over. There is a feeling of a large disturbance in the force. Its like you know the Bomber Planes are in the air and on the way, and you are just waiting to see which area gets blown to smithereens first!

I know the time is truly near, I just use the Wife-Oh Barometer. All this time she has been a little more passive about the Prep Stuff. But suddenly, its like a switch got turned on. She just assembled her "Emergency Kitchen in a Tub." She is making as much Bread, Pasta and other eats from scratch as possible. Yesterday we were up at the family farm working to ready the area for Spring Planting.

Other things too, so if her alarm bells are now sounding, the time of Hell on Earth is just around the bend!

Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid!

*****

Got on http://www.codenamebullseye.blogspot.com/ and had a good time this morning. Ol' Bullseye was in great form. Went to a flea market. Got some water barrels and some ammo and got his thinking machine tuned up a bit. But you should read this page this morning for your own good.
*
Everybody is getting ready for something they just cannot quite describe with accuracy. But they know it is coming and it ain't too far off in the future. About the only thing I have left to do is watch for the 'trigger' event. And I ain't talking about AIG handing out some bonuses. Who even gives a shit? If it wasn't a condition of getting their bail-out money there ain't much you can do about it. I wish the media would just shut up about the AIG bonuses. Who gives a fuck?

But that must be what the PTB want us to talk about right now. They use the media to define the national dialogue. But they have to do that, you know. They can't have you standing around the coffee machine in the morning talking about shooting troops or politicians or such as that. That sort of stuff ain't good for the national mental health, you understand. Just ask any congressman if you don't believe me.
*
I will yet once again tell you beginners what the fuck you need to do. You need to acquire Beans, Bullets, and Band-aids. Beans are food that you can store for long periods of time. Get a year's worth if you can accomplish it. Beans, rice, corn, wheat, oats, etc. Get the stuff in bags and get it frozen. Let it freeze for two or three days then take it out of the freezer and put it in a metal garbage can with a good snug lid. It is boring food but it will keep you alive. It will also keep your kids and your mate alive.. Get spices and other things to flavor it. Start buying and stocking canned food. Meat, vegetables, goodies, what ever floats your boat. You will probably need them this Summer. It is going to be bad this Summer. Your media and your politicians have been lying to you and it will all come out pretty soon. You have been ripped-off and scammed beyond all recognition. When the Summer of Hell begins, you have plenty of FOOD stored and ready. Get lots of it! The wise guys are saying that the price of food is going up big time this Summer. Americans will not be able to stand this. Americans are a weak and indulged people. To lose their income and have the price of their food go up is more than they can bear. Get your pop corn ready and your good lawn chair in position to watch it all come apart at the seams this Summer. The hysteria should be something to behold!

Bullets represents having some firepower to protect yourself and your friends and family from nasty things. And there will be nasty things all over the place this coming Summer. The freebooters will first be after your food and fuel, but after a short while they will be after your children and your mate. If you live in the country there is always the need to drive off critters who want to eat your crops. Well, there will be two legged critters wanting to eat the crop of your garden also! Be prepared to drive them off, along with the Raccoons and Bunnies and Deer and whatnot. I am not kidding you when I say that things can get tough this Summer. I am not kidding at all.

Band-aids represents medical supplies you should have on hand. They could go out of production for a few years pretty quickly now. This globalization is turning out to be the biggest boondoggle yet pulled off against mankind in all of it's history. And your medicine and your medical devices re going to be in short supply. Better stock up. You know what you need so get it. You now what your kid needs so get it also. Get a supply of basic first aid supplies. Your life may hang in the balance. There is a chance that we might be shocked with a good dose of bird flu or some other wonderful life form. Get yourself a good supply of hospital grade nose and mouth masks. Get enough to keep your breathing passages covered 24 hours a day. Go buy a few half-gallons of antibacterial hand soap. Keep tuned in and when you hear that something mean is in the air then you get the fuck inside and stay out of the air and way from human idiots. AND CLEAN EVERYTHING. Every doorknob, etc. Close the windows and don't let the cat or dog come in. You can feed them with a quick handout on a paper plate. If they die it is just too bad.
*
Time may be getting awfully low. There may not be a whole hell of a lot of it left. And if the shit hits the fan I will not be on the internet much, if at all. I am just like you and I will have to eat too! I will be using my strength and my brains to support myself and my friends and family. I have a couple of snake-bit friends who will be gardening with me until the Fall die-off. We ain't givin' up for any fucking banker or politician.

I haven't said much this week or last, if you have been paying any attention. I have just been waiting for the different shoes to drop in our seemingly never ending slide into a financial depression. I will say this, the idiots who run the financial sector of our world sure are creative with our money. But the absolute dumbest thing you have ever seen done in public is the latest effort of buying Treasury Bills with money from the federal reserve bank. This is the ultimate attempt to borrow our way out of debt. And this guy Obama is backing it. Like I said, it is the dumbest thing you have ever seen performed in public. People are not going to forget about it when it fails. And failure is gong to be a major pain in the nation's ass this year and maybe a few more. I think my friend Charles Bell has it correct when he says, "Do not be fooled. It IS going to crash." The Chinese are very upset with us. The have a huge pile of T-bills and US currency. They do not like the idea of the US fedgov making all their US financial paper worthless. Most accurate figures of Chinese holdings of US financial paper and cash is in the neighborhood of 2.2 trillion dollars worth. If all that money loses 10% of it's value then China will have lost 220 billion dollars. Lots of anger if that happens. The citizens will be trying to scalp the fedgov guys and the Chinese will be after them also. It could get pretty bleak for a US politician.

It was the first day of Spring for us Hoosiers today. The wife went out and foraged us some Creasy Greens for supper. Not bad. And sorely needed in the diet. Good nutrition and excellent fiber. First greens of 2009 but they will not be the last. I will try to hold out for Lamb's Quarters. Hands down they are my favorite.

Stay alive.

BUY MY LUMBER

I too have something for sale. I have 60,000 feet of 4/4 random width, green lumber to move. Mixed hardwood species, mostly Oak. I gotta have 25 cents a board foot FOB Bloomington, IN. Let me know if you want a load or however many loads. I can get 8000 feet on a truck.

A LITTLE BIT

It seems like everything I look at on the Internet is a commercial. Everyone is wanting money. I think we may be having economic problems in this country. There are a lot of people looking for jobs. There are many wanting to sell you something.

I tried some of my Amish Honey today and it was delicious. Some peanut butter and a couple of slices of bread and I had dessert. It is local honey and I believe it will help people with allergies. I don't have much in the way of allergies but you never can tell. I might get a ton of them.

I am not writing much because I don't know what situation I will be writing about. Some say the recession has hit bottom and we are on the way back to the top.

We have an Army Surplus Store here in the area that is reportedly selling non-hybrid garden seed. They were closed today. But they might well be selling the good seeds. The store is owned by the local head of the John Birch Society. I've talked with those guys for a couple of decades. Decent folks. But the DJIA is looking at the sixth straight day of gains and I think that having a big garden can be even more benefits. Sure would be a clunky thing to do to not garden because the economy was coming back and that turn out to be a lie. And it would come as a surprise because the government and the media have never joined forces to deceive us in the past. And I would like to interest you in a bridge I have for sale. So get prepared for an Obama Summerfest. Get prepared by stocking up on your preserved garden produce and plenty of seed saved for next years garden. Remember, they don't want to tank it while the living is easy. Cause if they do that then it will be easy to rebel and raise hell. When the temperatures get down to single digits then the government can go do about what they wish.

Guns and ammo are still moving in this country like crazy. It might be one of the more powerful economic engines we have going for us. And it sure is being noised about on the internet. Mostly forlorn folks who can't get what they want or think they need. If you will pay the money you can get most any gun you wish but you might not be able to shoot it. Pain and suffering. I think I will post this while I am in the mood to do it.

Got guns? Got preps? Got a revolution?

FINAL 24 HOURS ENTRY

You may post this - just include my name and the link to my blog:

I already have contingency plans and action shopping lists prepared) in advance. This will save time when we have 24 hour or shorter warning before the Shit Hit the Fan, I have been operating under the assumption that we are running out of time so I have largely finished all preps that require shipping or ordering online. When you have 24 hours left, you are restricted to local resources. Do your shopping first before you do other preperatory steps because it does not take a lot of people with the same idea to strip stores bare of the essentials - especially for items that are not heavily stocked. I have twenty items on my list:

My first step would be to assess the threat scenario as different ones require somewhat different preps. Nuclear weapons / fallout, civil unrest, and pandemics are special cases with additional steps.

My second step is to review my current inventory and update my shopping lists as needed. I do this roughly once per month. By having a list, you save time when shopping and you can prioritize based on the amount of resources. When you do this, assess your personal needs and prepping gaps - you may need to reorder your shopping priorities.

Check your current account balances. Under a SHTF scenario, you can assume no access to these for either a short-term period (e.g. a Hurricane Katrina event if you live in Biloxi and bank with a local bank or a "bank holiday") or a permanent loss of access (economic collapse; nuclear war). Even if you are able to obtain access later, you cannot guarantee that the funds will have the same value - especially after a bank holiday.

Stop at your bank and take the maximum amount of cash you can from your accounts. There are both daily limits per account and limits in terms of how much cash most bank branches have on hand at the bank. It does not take very many customers asking for several thousand dollars or more each to empty the bank of cash.

Food is your #1 priority. I would start with Costco and grocery store runs. Even with a good food storage program, you alway burn through your supplies. Spend your money on foods that do not need refrigeration. You might want to stock extra coffee, alcohol, and canning supplies as trade goods that you also use. In addition, you should think about buying foods to can and dehydrate - you can do these later in the day or in the next several days. If you have a nuclear scenario where you need to shelter in place in your fallout shelter, buy extra food that does not need to be prepared along with paper plates, plastic utensils, and paper towels so you don't need to use stored water to clean dishes. Get several containers of regular bleech (without any scents) - even if you have bleech stored, it looses its decontamination properties in as little as three months.

Your next stop should be your local gun store or the gun section of Wal-Mart or your local sporting goods store. Get more ammunition. Also, get any other gun or camping supplies you identified as a gap. If you do not have a gun, this is your last chance to get one.

If you do not have an emergency shortwave radio, get one. Likewise, if you do not have FMRS/GMRS / MURS walkie-talkie radios, get some.

Stock up on more batteries while at Costco or Wal-Mart.

Stop at the gas station and fill every car up with fuel. Also, get some 5 gallon gas cans and fill them up.

Get additional propane tanks and fill them.

Buy containers to store water. Your priorities are a) 5 gallon water tanks (Wal-Mart usually stock several but they will be gone fast), b) large trash bags (use as liners for trash cans and bath tubs and then fill and cable tie them), and c) kiddie plastic swiming pools with covers. When you get home after all of your shopping, fill all of these with water. In a nuclear scenario, these are extra shielding for you and should be inside. Otherwise, the plastic swimming pool can be outside.

Upgrade your medical supplies as needed. If there is a threat of a pandemic, be sure to get N95 masks, and lots of garlic, sambucol (elderberry extract), grape fruit seed extract, oregano oil (or Oregonal brand of oregano oil), olive leaf extract, and other natural medicines. You probably will need to go to a healh food or vitamin store to get the natural medicines. Also stock up on female products for the ladies - my wife doesn't stock enough.

Stop at your local feed store for more feed for your animals. You can often get 50 pound bags of oats, corn, and grain and many feed stores that humans can eat. Depending on the threat scenario, you might want to buy seeds, farming gear, and livestock if possible.

If you expect civil unrest, stop at a building supply store and get a bunch of 4'x8' sheets of 3/4" thick plywood, 5 lbs of screws, some 2"x4" studs, and lots of 3/4" gravel. When you get home, you will cut the plywood to size to cover your ground floor windows and glass patio doors. You can also use the plywood and the 2x4 studs to make bullet trap boxes with the gravel. If they have plexiglass or lexan sheets at least 1/4" thick large enough to cover your windows, those could be used instead of the plywood. While at the building supply store, you might want to get the parts you need to rig a rain water harvesting system.

If you have a nuclear fallout scenario, get extra sheet plastic and trash bags (or sand bags). You also need to get HEPA air filters for your home air intake pipes if you have a heat recovery ventilator or mechanical ventilator system.

Also buy lots of caulk and spray foam to weatherize and seal your house as best you can (if you have not already done this).

You will need to build (or improve) a fallout shelter. You need lots of mass. Think in terms of 2 ft of concrete or 3+ ft of dirt, sandbags, water, books, and/or anything else of comparable mass that you can move. You can use firewood as well but you need ~5 ft high densely packed piles. You also want to cover gardens, equipment, firewood piles, outdoor furniture, open animal sheds, etc with sheet plastic to catch any fallout and to simplify decontamination and cleanup after the fallout ends and radiation drops to safe levels. Finally, buy all of the parts you need to build an air pump for your shelter and a Kearny fallout meter (if you do not have a fallout meter).

Before you spend any money on big ticket items, trade goods, or gold/silver, make sure you are secure in all of the items covered above first. Generators could be something to get but remember they are only as good as long as you have fuel to run them. In the last minute, you may not be able to stock more than several days worth of fuel for the generator.

You can invest any remaining cash in trade goods or gold / silver assuming you have a local source who has gold or silver in stock.

Spend using credit cards first, then checks and debit cards before you use any cash.

If you have a retreat or retreat plans, now is the time to gather your family, load your vehicles, and bug out.

If you are remaining in your neighborhood, warn your neighbors and help them prepare. Even a large stocking up grocery run to Costco or a Wal-Mart supercenter can significantly improve their level of preparedness.

You might want to think about preparing LP/OP positions in certain scenarios. However, do all of your other preps first, including preparing your house.

SHORT POST

It's a pretty good morning. I have not had a cigarette since Sunday afternoon. And I only had one on Sunday. My posting is sorta sporadic. I hope it gets better.

The DJIA has gone up big time the last three days. The Presidential Push Team is doing their work. But no matter how much they manipulate things, they can't really change things. It's like betting against the May 10 frost date around here. I can't tell you how many times I have seen it get real warm the first week of May and then freeze on the 9th or 10th. And a little bit of freezing never hurt a seed much, unless it has made contact with the soil.

For a little bit of survival exercise you ought to write out what you would do if you had only 24 hours to go before the Shit Hit The Fan. Send it to me and I will post it, unless you say not to do it.

GOT STRESS?

I can't get the bail-out rip-off out of my head, so you get no relief either. This thing keeps kicking around inside my cranium and won't let me alone. 9.4 trillion dollars out to the banksters and what have we to show for it? Merely more banksters with their hands out. And we get stuck with the bill! BUT NOT A SINGLE FUCKING MORTGAGE GOT PAID OFF!!!! All that goddamn money and no one got their house paid off.

It would have been so simple to solve all of our problems by paying off the mortgages and declaring JUBILEE for everyone and going on from there. See, there would not have been a bank problem. They would have gotten all of the mortgage money coming in and they would have been rich indeed! Want a loan? No problem, there is plenty of cash. Everybody with a home is eligible for a loan. Got to have a new car to make it back and forth to work? No problem. We can get you any kind of car you wish. You need a loan to get junior through his last year of college? Sign right here and we will mail you the check. Need an extra room built on to the house? No problem. Our home improvement loans are second to none. You need a loan to catch up on household merchandise such as appliances and clothing? Again, not a problem. When all the mortgages get paid off there is a ton of money around for borrowers. But the mortgages didn't get paid off. The money got fiddled and diddled and talked about but no one ever got their mortgage paid off. What the fuck is going on here?

I'll tell you what is going on here. You, the American taxpayer, are getting a telephone pole shoved up your ass. The banks are getting all of the money and you get screwed. They got all the money and you still owe them for your house! What a deal!

But that is how it works when you have a central bank running your country's finances. You see, a lot of this money will be coughed up by the Federal Reserve and we will guarantee it. And the federal reserve charges the US Treasury for any money they have printed and keep track of. You got to pay a service fee for all of that hocus pocus, you know. You see, the federal reserve is a private bank. It's called the federal reserve but it is a private entity. How do you think they get away with telling the Treasury to go pound sand when they are asked how much money went where. They can tell the US Treasury and the Congress to go pound sand and they do not hesitate to do it. They are the big boss and some little government will not shove them around!

You know, the federal reserve has never been audited. No one knows how much it makes. And it does not pay taxes. You can't have your central bank paying income taxes, for chrissakes. No one knows how much they make and they don't pay any taxes. But if they need any money for anything at all, they just call the mint and have it printed and that is that. The federal reserve is over the American economy but they are owned by European Investment Banks. These banks bought up the stock in the federal reserve when it was first issued and the owners of said stock are kept totally secret. They are somewhat like Super Citizens that are not subject to the same rules of living as you and I. Obama talks his "transparency" bullshit but it comes to nought when it runs into the federal reserve. Remember, they don't even get audited. They are a secret bank. And my in-box is full of emails telling me the joys of the latest round of gun control. It ain't law as yet but the fellas say it ain't too far off.

Got guns? Got preps? Got a Revolution?

MONEY, MONEY, EVERYWHERE, BUT NOT A DOLLAR FOR ME

I have been away for a few days and have not posted.

I do want to reiterate that we have paid 9.8 trillion dollars to bail out the banks of this country. At least that is what they say we did! And that is enough money to pay off every fucking mortgage in America. And I know all of you are marching in the streets giving thanks to God for your good fortune! Wrong? How can that possibly be wrong? It is our money, right? We have signed for it via the crooked hands of our duly elected officials. But that 9.8 trillion dollars is gone and we have no mortgage party to attend. How in the hell did this happen?

9.8 trillion dollars got paid out to banks and not one fucking mortgage got paid! Our newly elected President has failed us. We have been ripped-off to the maximum. And your government officials did it to us.

Got a Gun? Got preps? Got a Revolution?

Get ready.

FIRST OF THE WEEK

There was a excellent article over at Texas Prepper this morning on the Bird Flu Virus and it's being made ready for the world. So, if this kind of data is freely circulating then it must not be what the bastards are getting ready to pull on us. I hate to say that after I have just been outside and counted 9 chemtrails. That sorta hurt my head. But you can read the article at http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=9833 . These clowns are going for broke. Why they want to let the 1918 Spanish Flu, coupled with H5N1 Bird Flu out of the bottle is just monstrous. And you can bet your ass that DARPA is right in the thick of it. Our guys in the Pentagon doing their best to see that we don't get the best.

The markets are headed South this late Winter and Early Spring and I could not be any happier. We need a whole new system and we ain't gonna get it until this present one is thrown on the fire of the past and consumed. Then thinking men in local areas can sit down and make the rules they tin should govern their trade and business. We do not need some pimp for a global entity to send us rules on how to live our lives. But you have to watch these bastards. And you should also be ready for the pension "disaster" that is headed to your local area.

The reason, as I have stated before, for keeping track of these noxious things is I am always looking for a trigger event. I am looking for the straw that breaks the camels back. Something is going to happen and Martial Law will be declared and the shit is going to hit the fan. Keep an eye on this situation in Mexico right down, down in Juarez, across the river from El Paso, Texas. If it spills over into the USA we will have big trouble. In fact, keep an eye on all of the situations and report anything you come across. It may lead to people falling trees across their entry and exit roads. I ain't letting the bastards come in here and rummage through the place.

I will be buying plastic to use to seal my door and windows in about two weeks. It ain't fool proof but it is a damn sight better than nothing. But here is the deal. It is my understanding that the little germies that can kill us don't live long out in the open. They need to be in your blood stream or your lungs to really get going. Thus I feel that if you can hold them off a while they will die of natural causes and you will be safe.[Bulletin: Mike Kemp says that different virus have different life spans, and they all can vary. Keep your dwelling fairly well sealed, wear mask and goggles and keep your hands exceptionally clean. Door knobs are places of infection. Wait as long as you can before going out into the environment outside your home. Clorox bleach will kill any virus known.]

Stay alive.

NOTHIN' SPECIAL

Ah...no emails of any kind this morning. Interest is waning. The Boob Tube is getting all of the attention, though it is losing it's ass in ratings and advertising. Fox News is rolling in dough, however. They are making noise about the stimulus acts and they have Glenn Beck stirring things up in his unobtrusive manner. But the bloggers are not getting too much attention these days. Jim Rawles made mention of getting his name or blog in a major Nu Yawk Sity newspaper. That's real nice. His blog is a real nice place to go to learn how to set up a proper radio antenna or how to shop for land. His sponsors are in deep with the crash, however. They are all saying watch out! And saying that will make them money, you understand. And Americans understand people wanting to make money. It's part of our national culture. But the question remains as to just who the fuck is going to get your back when the shit goes down. We survivalists beat each other on the back and promise to be there, all equipped and ready. Don't really know about that. And with lack of interest there ain't much way of telling. We have a couple of women who are acting like the have more balls than most of the men. Pearls and Ernie really give it hell but I don't now who backs them. I keep getting a fragment of an old song..."Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right, here I am, stuck in the middle with WHO?" It all makes you kinda wonder, don't it. How many will bow and how many will stand. I just know that I ain't going anywhere. And it is because I have no where else to go. And I don't WANT to go anywhere else. I like it here just fine. Lots of land and lots of water and a bunch of good friends. Used up a helluva huge pile of work getting all of it, but it has proven out to be just the ticket for survival.

Survival Topics and Riverwalker and Rawles have put out more information that any of you can use. Plus there are myriad others who have contributed to your supposed survival. Now I wonder how many of you will get with the program. How many of you really intend to make the leap of faith and join in the struggle to survive? We are being attacked on practically every front. Just try to name a human activity that is not being controlled by someone or some governmental entity. There is a monstrous effort being poured out to establish CONTROL over all of us. And most of you do not even realize it. The greatest consolidation of power and wealth in the history of the world is taking place right before our very eyes and we are left blinded to it for the most part. And just what the hell does the New World Order exist for but for POWER ! They want to rule you. They want to control your life. They want to reduce you to common slaves. They want to fuck your young daughters and maybe even your young sons. They want to make you provide the food for their table and clean up their messes. And they want to kill off most of you. You are no longer needed as you once were. They will be the masters and we are to be their serfs. There estates will be huge and self sustaining. You will not own a single square inch of property. They will control well fed armies who will come kill you if you do not go along with the program they have instituted. It is all going to be their way or the end way for you.

Your mission, if you decide to survive and live, will be to feed and water and defend yourself. And that is kind of daunting when you consider that all the old tricks our forebears knew are missing from your routines these days. Those wonderful old gals who could nurse you to health are no longer with us. Those old men who knew the ways of the land are gone on to meet their maker. They could truly farm. They could do it all, for the most part. Our immediate parents have not left us much to work with. We have the TV and the CD player. We have computer games. We have NFL football. But damn few skills.

We're now you, for what you did we're sorry
Old time ways we're bringin' back again
We're building barns and trading jams and jellies
And we're holdin' hands and the hands of all our kids.

You are to preserve the decent life of a person living on this continent as best you can. GET OUT OF DEBT! Do not let those banking bastards get your property! Hold on to it with main strength and ignorance if nothing else. There is a section of some fucking banking bail-out law that allows the banks to raise your mortgage payment if it is necessary for them to make it as a business entity. And they will declare a national emergency and do it! All it takes is the President to sign a declaration of Martial Law and your ass is cooked, brothers and sisters. And do not be fooled into thinking that a national emergency is declared because you or I might be in danger. Oh no, no, no. It will be declared because the government might be feeling some discomfort or their buddies in the Global Business Arena might get a little apprehensive. Get used to the fact that you don't matter any more! The elite are mostly interested in sex and games. You will just be a game. That is because the American populace is merely pimples with legs. Stay alive.

STRANGE WORDS

There is so much to write about it is almost staggering. I know I will have to leave a lot of it out but my blogger friends will pick up the ball and move it up court.

In gazing at my crystal ball of possibilities I see a pandemic and possible a war coming very soon. It just has to be, you understand. AND YOU HAD BETTER UNDERSTAND! The financial condition of this country is going to trigger a revolution unless something is done about it and Obama is not the man to do it. Obama is a machine politician from Chicago, not a statesman, not a man of the people. Soooo, the banks are going to continue to haul off the loot by the truckload until we get pissed and decide to do something about it. And since sometime last Summer the civilian population of the USA has purchased 1.2 billion dollars worth of ammo. That is a lot of shooting, my friends. And the powers that be are aware of this. They know more about it than we do. And it has placed a wad in their shorts. For they know they are guilty of looting their own country and deserve hanging. But they will continue to loot the country until we do something to stop them. That much we know. They have no plans to restore this country to it's former position of power and influence. They are under the control of lobbyists and the state of Israel and China. And all three of these have objectives different than what a decent prepper would want. But, in order to avoid the noose or the firing squad they will create a diversion to get our minds off of their extinction and get us to thinking about keeping our own asses alive. Sly dogs that they are.

The fedgov plan will be to anticipate the start of hostilities and trigger a pandemic here in the USA. And this is my own personal tin hat theory and I will claim all idiocy that is associated with it. But the DJIA finish down 280 points this afternoon and the market is under 6600. Things are not looking too good. I have not heard of any courthouses being assaulted and all occupants shot but it could be coming up on the screen at any time. My bet is on a flu pandemic being started to take our minds off of what they have done to us. That thing with Baxter International mixing up flu vaccine over in Czechoslovakia and it having bird flu germs in it has made my alarm bells go off rather loudly. What the fuck is Baxter International doing with bird flu? And how did it get mixed in with their regular flu vaccine? Just before we go to war with our own government we will get a flu pandemic to end all pandemics. And we know the rotten bastards at Baxter International have the shit.

************
I got this in from Wolverine last night.

EVERY CITIZEN NEEDS TO READ THIS AND THINK ABOUT WHAT THIS JOURNALIST HAS SCRIPTED IN THIS MESSAGE. READ IT AND THEN REALLY THINK ABOUT OUR CURRENT POLITICAL DEBACLE.

Charley Reese has been a journalist for 49 years.

545 PEOPLE

By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party. What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist. If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red ..

If the Army & Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQ.

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do. Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible. They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Charlie Reese is a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper. What you do with this article now that you have read it.......... is up to you.
