I have several things on my mind this morning, one of them being economic growth. I run into this phrase all the time. But most people seem to be clueless as to what it engenders.
Economic growth is actually a contest to see who can accumulate the most materialism. It starts with the judicious use of envy and progresses to conflict and competition by any means available.
I drive these roads around our area only rarely these days. The price of fuel is just ridiculous and my pick-up truck only gets 17 mpg. It's nice. It is comfortable. It does NOT have electric windows or power seats or electric locks. I personally despise these so called luxury options and I bought my truck accordingly. I will not have to go have expensive repairs at an automotive electrical repair shop.
Some people must have these things, however. They feel that without these conveniences their vehicle is inadequate, that it somehow doesn't measure up to what a truck should be. And how do they know this? Why, they are told by the dealership that sells the damn trucks, that's how.
And how about the window glass in a vehicle these days! You can't even get a little side vent window on your door. There is no air circulation that you can adjust with any simple little flick of the wrist. You take what the big window will give you or you most likely do without. Or you turn on the AIR CONDITIONER for fresh air or you turn on the HEATER. Both of these devices lower your mpg. You want to breath better air while you are traveling, you are gonna pay for it in extra gasoline. But the dealership will tell you that these options will increase the trade-in value of your vehicle.
What about those crew-cab pick-ups that congest our highways? Can you imagine anything so stupid? Thirty years ago a crew-cab was just that. A crew assembled and they all got into one vehicle and went to work. All tools and lunch boxes and what not were carried in the back of the truck. That was what a truck was for, remember. It was to haul stuff. But not any more. Out here in rural America we have thousands, maybe millions, of one occupant four door pick-up trucks on the highway. And the extra seat is loaded with the stuff they don't carry in the hauling bed. We have become a nation of spoiled idiots.
I can go on and on about trucks and their idiot drivers. But that is not the subject of this blog this morning. The story is about growth, economic growth.
Our media keeps track of our economic growth and tells us quite frequently how we are measuring up. If we get behind in growth we are supposed to go out and spend more. And this way we have more business and more income, supposedly. And with more income and lots of employment opportunities, we get growth. And we can all go out and buy McMansions and live happily ever after. Of course, it takes two incomes to do this and our wives must work outside the home so we can afford all this stuff, but we are told we are being successful and that is what matters. And the media companies sell advertising to the makers of all the things we spend money on. Is that sorta like a twofold child of Hell as mentioned in the Bible?
But what does growth really get us? It gets us into sub-prime banking. It gets us into currency devaluation. It creates economic bubbles and I taught my kids a long time ago that bubbles always end up popping. The drive for social acceptance, the drive for social admiration, is what fuels these bubbles. We have an enormous industry called advertising that pushes us towards the ultimate goal of living the good life on an English estate. It shows our wife and kids all the latest gadgets that they need to be where "its " at.
And it always shows other people enjoying these things. Aha! "Other folks are enjoying these goodies so why can't we?" says the family. So the latest gadget is dutifully purchased and contentment sets in for another day or two. And a day or two is all the peace we get, because there is always another gadget or another concert or another movie to spend money on. Then it will be another vehicle and an addition to the home and a vacation and on and on and on. And we call this growth. How stupid. And all because an industry raises the bar from the low level of what we really need to the high level of what we want or think we want. I believe I said something about "stupid"?
We need food, shelter, clothing, water, sewer, and air. That's what we need. And these things are not too hard to come by. We can do these things with not too much trouble.
And after this we can stop the battle. We can stop the false practice of growth. You get most of these things taken care of and all you need to do is grow food. In this day and age you will have to pay property taxes but that might stop in a few years too.
The human self is insatiable. You can never repress its wants and desires. So don't even try. Just don't spend any money on them. Don't bother making enought money to afford them. Relax. Enjoy life. Work in the garden. Talk with your friends. Commune with God. I remember a few years ago that William F. Buckley said he never wanted the stale calm of Utopia. Ol' William F. was an idiot.
AN old preacher told me that the oldest people he generally ran into were feeble people who lived in nursing homes. They were feeble and never worried about a damn thing. Their needs were looked after and they had no stress in their lives. AND I AM NOT SAYING WE SHOULD ALL GET A LOBOTOMY SO WE WON'T WORRY. I am merely pointing out that escape from stress can prolong your life. Escape from the rat race. Escape from keeping up with the Joneses. Escape the bills and the high costs of living in this "modern" world. Let a little peace come into your life. The Bible says to never let the Sun go down on your wrath. That just means to ask God to take care of all the problems the morons you can't control have created. And you let the problems slide off your back and fall to the ground. Growth is an approved term for stress. Don't fall for the propaganda.

Israel has said Hezbollah is rearming and has an arsenal that includes 10,000 long-range rockets and 20,000 short-range rockets in southern Lebanon, according to a report from Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
Ban's report to the Security Council, obtained by The Associated Press on Monday, did not confirm Israel's claim. But the U.N. chief reiterated his concern about Hezbollah's public statements and persistent reports pointing to breaches of a U.N. arms embargo, which bans weapons transfers to the militant Islamic group.
Ban also expressed concern at "the threats of open war against Israel" by Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Nasrallah has accused Israel of trying to start a new war by assassinating a top Hezbollah commander and warned it would be a battle the Jewish state would lose. Israel has denied involvement in the Feb. 12 car bombing in Syria that killed Imad Mughniyeh.
The secretary-general's report focused on implementation of the U.N. cease-fire resolution that ended the 34-day war between Israel and Hezbollah in August 2006. The resolution reiterates a call for the disarming of all militias and bans arms transfers to them.
"Reports of Hezbollah rearming are a cause of great concern, posing serious challenges to the sovereignty, stability and independence of Lebanon," Ban said.
He told the council he continues to believe that the disarmament of Hezbollah and other militias must be part of a Lebanese-led political process that would fully restore the government's authority throughout the country. He expressed regret "that the persistent deterioration of the political climate and the prolonged deadlock" over the election of a new Lebanese president have made it impossible to deal with the disarmament issue.
In his last report to the council in late October, Ban alleged that Hezbollah had rearmed with new long-range rockets capable of hitting Tel Aviv and tripled its arsenal of C-802 land-to-sea missiles since the 2006 war. He also drew attention to alleged breaches of the arms embargo and the transfer of sophisticated weapons from Iran and Syria — both strong backers of Hezbollah — across the Lebanon-Syria border.
Syria disputed the claim countering that the allegations of weapons smuggling are motivated by political rather than security considerations, Ban said, but Hezbollah's leaders have acknowledged on several occasions that their military capacity had been replenished since the war with Israel.
"I, therefore, remain concerned that this border remains vulnerable to such breaches, which would represent serious violations of the resolution and constitute a significant threat to the stability and security of Lebanon," he said.
After the 2006 war, a beefed-up U.N. force was stationed in south Lebanon, partially to keep Hezbollah from smuggling weapons into the area.
In Monday's report, Ban said, Israel maintains that Hezbollah "is significantly rebuilding its military presence" inside the U.N.'s area of operations. But he said U.N. and Lebanese forces have found no evidence so far of new infrastructure.
"In addition to information provided in previous reports, the government of Israel states that Hezbollah's arsenal includes some 10,000 long-range rockets, in addition to some 20,000 short-range rockets," the secretary-general said.
He said Hezbollah denies transferring weapons to the area where the U.N. force is deployed — a move that would violate the 2006 resolution.
Before the war, Israel estimates that Hezbollah had 13,000 rockets deployed. During the war, Hezbollah bombarded Israel with nearly 4,000 rockets. The rockets struck as far south as Hadera, 30 miles north of Tel Aviv.
Since the war, Nasrallah has boasted his group possesses an arsenal of rockets that can reach all of Israel, including the main metropolis of Tel Aviv. Shortly after the war, he said the guerrillas had 33,000 rockets.

STEP RIGHT UP AND GET YOUR REAL ID
WASHINGTON — Homeland Security officials are pushing recalcitrant states to adopt stricter driver's license standards to end a standoff that could disrupt domestic air travel.
States have less than a month to send a letter to the Homeland Security Department seeking an extension to comply with the Real ID law passed following the 2001 terror attacks. Some states have resisted, saying it is costly, impractical and an invasion of privacy.
Four states — Maine, Montana, New Hampshire and South Carolina — have yet to seek an extension.
Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff argues that the law fixes a critical gap in security identified by the commission that investigated the 9/11 attacks: the ease of obtaining government-issued ID. It will also hinder would-be con artists and illegal immigrants, he said.
Real ID-compliant driver's licenses would have several layers of new security features to prevent forgery. They would also be issued after a number of ID checks, including verification of birth certificates, Social Security numbers and immigration status. Officials acknowledge it will take years to phase in all the different security measures.
To bring the states in line, Chertoff warned that any state that does not seek an extension by the end of March will find that, come May, their residents will not be able to use their licenses to board domestic flights.
Chertoff's assistant secretary, Stewart Baker, sent letters to several governors Monday reminding them of the looming deadline, and urging the holdouts to seek an extension.
In recent years, 17 states passed legislation or resolutions opposing Real ID, but now only a handful appear willing to challenge the government publicly.
Officials in Maine and Montana insisted Monday they would not seek an extension. A spokesman for South Carolina's governor said he was still considering it. New Hampshire passed a law last year prohibiting the state from participating in the Real ID program, and Gov. John Lynch wrote Chertoff last week asking him not to impose the requirements on New Hampshire citizens.
A fifth state, Delaware, has sent a letter asking for an extension, but DHS officials are still
weighing whether the wording of the letter legally adds up to an extension request.
If the states do not seek an extention by March 31, their residents will be subjected to secondary screening by security workers before boarding any domestic flight beginning May 11.
"We're not going to buckle under here," said Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer. "My guess is the people of Montana would be proud to walk through that line."
Schweitzer called the Real ID proposal a bureaucratic boondoggle that will cost his state a fortune and give a false sense of security without actually making ID more reliable. He has sought to rally opposition to Real ID, but the vast majority of states have decided not to test whether Washington is bluffing.
As the high-stakes game of chicken continues, federal authorities are not publicly saying whether seeking an extension actually counts as complying with the law. In his recent letters, Baker said only that the 45 states that have sought extensions are "on track toward improved security

MOTHER'S MILK
I think this morning on the subject of Ol' Mom. I am not on the subject of a particular woman but on a collective woman.
We have been born and raised at the breast of Mommy 'Merica. She has nutured us for all of our lives. She sang to us as children and taught us of the safety of her nation. We were so proud of Momma. She was the best. She beat everyone else all to hell. No one had it together like Mom.
Mom has grown senile over the years, however. Her once radiant beauty has faded and she stumbes a lot and she forgets things. The men who husbanded her are now refered to as Dead White Men. Where she was once faithful and true, she has now become a little lax in her scruples. She sits with many suitors. She has affairs with legions of men. If you stir her fancy she will offer you great reward for surrendering to her wiles and charms. You can enjoy your time as her latest notch in her gun. But don't try to hang around, because this bitch won't appreciate it one bit. Very few men can husband her, and that number falls every day. It's practically non-existant.
We can, however, remember the sweetness of the milk of her breast. Years ago she was wonderful. Strong men brought forth sons and daughters in this land. More than equal to any task of continuity and survival. She and her children were the wonder of the world. Many nations owe their existance to her generousity and charity. Men looked upon her with awe. Her children were obedient and intelligent, gracious people. Sure, there were some scalawags, but they couldn't get power. At least not for long.
Then a great calamity came upon the people. A man named John was elected president of this great country and he believed in the greatness of this country and he ws going to strengthen this country. He faced down the mighty Russian Bear that was trying to install big missiles on the Island of Cuba. He pulled the American Dollar out of the evil Federal Reserve Sytem. He had a plan for getting us out of a war in southeast Asia in a little country called Vietnam that was started by the Eisenhower Administration. He was a brilliant man and a fighter. Fearless. And he had the good of America in his mind.
Of course you know what happened that fatefull day in Dallas, Texas. The young president was gunned down in the streets. A man called LBJ ws sworn in as president and a successful coup d' etat was proclaimed among those who knew the real story. And that was the last American husband to come on the scene. Since then we have had 45 years of perverted little Mommas boys.
Something happened to Mother's Milk. It became infused with an "off" taste or flavor. It seemed to encourage chicanery in our elected officials. Nursing at the paps of Mommy 'Merica didn't have the effect it had in years gone by. Most adults were content to wait and let the present disturbance pass into the vault of history. But it was not to be. The scumbags had the power and the national checkbook and they were not going to turn loose of those goodies come hell or high water. Mother's Milk was not having the ususal effect on the kids.
Mother's Milk is a powerful thing in the psyche of a people. After all, who wants to ignore ol' Mom. And we all have the memory of her milk. Can't be helped. Where you were raised and what you were raised on, is in your mind and heart. The Mother's Milk we have been fed these last 45 years is blue john. It ain't got the right goodies in it for raising the young. In point of fact, our young are being poisoned by their Mother's Milk. And that has been a sad and destructive thing in our lives.
Where once we had a moral compass to guide us and protect our lives, we now have trash and filth. Witness the public acceptance of homosexuality, multi culturalism, globalism, the cult of the money changers, the cult of the disrepectful youth, etc. Witness also the loss of morals in our youth and our middle aged. Kinky sex and illicit drugs compounded by the constant viewing of the boob tube. Our experiment in self government has died with a whimper. Our constitution is a failed document. Like Edgar Steele says, "New America, an idea whose time has come."
Some still long for the nursing on Mommy 'Merica's paps, however. Back when I was a kid we called these kind of guys "Momma Boys." They have no strength within their own character so they cry out to Momma for the saving from their own destruction. What a fraudulent bunch of men. They say they are of the rest of us but they are really just a pathetic group of neurotics who wish to somehow get back into the amniotic fluid of the womb. Beware of these people.

THE STRANGE WORLD WE LIVE IN
THIS WILL OPEN YOUR EYES!

Conveniently Forgotten Facts. Back in 1969 a group of Black Panthers decided that a fellow black panther named Alex Rackley needed to die. Rackley was suspected of disloyalty. Rackley was first tied to a chair. Once safely immobilized, his friends tortured himfor hours by, among other things, pouring boiling water on him. When they got tired of torturing Rackley, Black Panther member,Warren Kimbo took Rackley outside and put a bullet in his head. Rackley's body was later found floating in a river about 25 milesnorth of New Haven, Connecticut.
Perhaps at this point you're curious as to what happened to these BlackPanthers? In 1977, that's only eight years later, only one of the killers was still in jail. The shooter, Warren Kimbro, managed to get a scholarship to Harvard and became good friends with none other than Al Gore. He later became an assistant dean at an Eastern Connecticut State College. Isn't that something?
As a '60s radical you can pump a bullet into someone's head and a few years later, in the same state, you can become an assistant college dean! Only in America! Erica Huggins was the woman who served the Panthers by boiling the water for Mr. Rackley's torture. Some years later Ms. Huggins was elected to a California School Board.
How in the world do you think these killers got off so easy? Maybe it was in some part due to the efforts of two people who came to the defense of the Panthers. These two people actually went so far as to shut down Yale University with demonstrations in defense of the accused Black Panthers during their trial. One of these people was none other than Bill Lan Lee. Mr. Lee, or Mr. Lan Lee, as the case may be, isn't a college dean. He isn't a member of a California School Board. He is now head of the United States Justice Department's Civil Rights Division, appointed by none other than Bill Clinton.
O.K., so who was the other Panther defender? Is this other notable Panther defender now a schoolboard member? Is this other Panther apologist now an assistant college dean? No, neither!The other Panther defender was, like Lee, a radical lawstudent at Yale University at the time. She is now known as The "smartest woman in the world." She is none other than the Democratic senator from the State of New York----our former First Lady,the incredible Hillary Rodham Clinton. And now, as Paul Harvey said; "You know the rest of the story". Pass this on! This deserves the widest possible press.Also remember it, as she runs for President.

QUESTIONS TO ANSWER
I am thinking about a time, a year or so ago, when I was talking to a man of my region . I was discussing what we could buy to help us when TEOTWAWKI comes. I was thinking large capacity generators with BIG underground fuel supply, and mammoth warehouses, also underground, that would store our consumables and supplies of seed, first aid, batteries, tools, nails, nuts and bolts, and tons of food. Maybe even underground living for cattle and hogs and whatever. I also mentioned having lots of gold and silver for spending to buy what came up as necessary.
And then it dawned on me that I was planning a system that would replicate the one we live in now. I was planning on the big change as being merely a slight bump in the road. It seems that many consider survival as being the maintenance of what we have now. The greater a survivalist you are, the less you will notice the BIG BANG.
I wonder if I really want to do that. I wonder if I want to perpetuate the system that is going to go down. I wonder if I want to provide electricity for music players and movie players. I know songs from back in the 20's. Hell, I even know who Gene Austin is. But do I want this crap to stay with the kids growing up at the time of the BIG BANG? I don't think so. I think the best songs are yet to be written. The best singers have not had their voices heard. The greatest plays are still unknown and have not been penned. The greatest stories have not been told. So my thought is why would I want to castrate the up and coming geniuses of the future before they ever get a chance to produce? And who the hell would want to bring rap music down through the next thousand years? Talk about laying a curse on your fellow man!
Our freedom of expression has been bought out by big business and controlled by huge media corporations. The little guy is dead in the water. Our beautiful daughters are manipulated by the media as to how they look and how they dress and what kind of shoes they will wear. Perverts sit in board rooms and dictate how our kids are to look and behave. Nothing is sacred anymore. Andy Warhol was a queer from Pittsburgh, PA. Who wants Andy telling us who is famous and who is not. I thank God he is dead.
We have a little freedom of expression with the Internet. How long it remains free is up to our present masters. But we can still get some ideas out to those who are not brain dead from television and Hollywood movies, though the audience ain't too huge. Being brain dead is so easy and reading stuff on the Internet is so time consuming and it makes your head hurt to try and comprehend what the whacko survivalists are trying to say.
Our religions have sold us out and are on the side of the neocons. Think what the fundamentalist would do if THEY got power. Think about the fairy tales and poppycock that religions call doctrine these days becoming the law of the land. Ever heard of the Catholic Inquisition? They are responsible for a lot of deaths in the bloody history of man and religion.
The truth of the matter is that we can live without this worldly shit just fine. You need a home, water, food, sanitation, and air. The rest of the stuff we HAVE to HAVE is just stuff we have been taught to THINK WE NEED. Our society has taught us that we cannot possibly think of anything on our own that might amuse us or our children. It has to come out of that tube we all have in our houses. And our food has to come from a global market that ships it to us from all over the world. My grandparents would have gagged at the thought that they could not produce their own food. It was a point of pride with them that they could eat from their own garden. In our time our kids have no idea where their food comes from and don't really care. Thus we can say that big business and our corrupt government have castrated our future generations in the arena of food production. Clipped 'em! Took their very life sustenance from their control and gave it to the masters of world trade. Filthy bastards! But the BIG BANG will adjust this situation, though at a helluva price in human life. When the immovable object meets the irresistible force we have creation. And those from this next creation will be a lot smarter and more on the ball that what we have now. God, I hope so.
I'll get of this rant and leave you in peace for a while. But don't let the world castrate your kids! Let them grow to maturity with some knowledge of how to stay alive.

ODDS AND ENDS ON A SATURDAY AFTERNOON
Just catching up on some loose ends this afternoon. I want to say that the Dragon at http://circleoftheoroborous-dragon.blogspot.com/ had some nice things to say about staying alive and about this website. Dragon is a real doomer of the first order. I find his reasoning to be thoughtful and in line with facts. He has a way about him and he also likes Jim Dakin over at http://bisonsurvivalblog.blogspot.com/. I think Dakin is pretty good myself. I read these guys every day for my survival fix. You neer know when one of them will give you the missing piece to your puzzle of life.
Another good survival fix can be obtained with Joe at http://vikingpreparedness.blogspot.com/. Joe is pretty level headed and doesn't get flustered by the small stuff. I particularly enjoyed his current offering at his blog.
Then there is the Englishman at http://suburbanbushwacker.blogspot.com/. He is a trip and he knows more than he lets on, at least at first.
My fun event of the day was reading the Dragon and he emailed me and said he didn't give a shit what people thought of his writing, he was interested in the people who were intersted in survival. He wasn't selling anything or trying to get a following. He just wanted to get the truth out there and let people know what was going on and what he thought they could do about it.
That's about all I have to say right now. I got a good comment from Wolverine up in Michigan this morning. He just got free of credit card debt and owes nothing but his mortgage. And for the first time in many moons he and his wife are going to put out a garden. Really wonderful news!
